Don't quote me on this, but I spoke with a member of the State Roofing team and he told me that they had won in Reno but I don't recall who they played.

Wow!, I was pleasantly surprised to see the scores posted so soon. Since I left right after our "elimination" game I was curious to know who had won...

Great job posting the scores so quickly!!

I too had a DEAD Miken Ultra II Maxload 1.21 bpf (Red bat), unfortunately I bought it used about a month ago from eBay and it looked like it was brand new when I received it!. After several days of BP I wondered why it didn't feel like it had much I know why! I eventually sold it to a friend and he is having the same you think Miken will still allow a return? I'd like to give him a new bat if I can.

Doorman, you are correct, our team also won our bracket and I was very disappointed with the CHEAP Miken bat bag award which I will never use...I couldn't even give it away!

Although there was a nice plaque awarded but the team Manager gets that!

Since this was supposed to be a major tournament it would have been nice to "sport" some kind of casual recognition that your team won a "ring tournamt" without having to buy the ring.

I like your idea of a cap that reads something like "SSUSA Cal Cup Champions 2012", now that I would wear alot!

In a few years I may not even remenber that we won that tournament!

Capt, to answer your question regarding the 65 AAA Championship - Steve Levin (FL) beat the Mustangs in extra innings 21-20.

Budda12, good idea because sometimes SSUSA doesn't post the results for longer than 2 wks!
I'm still waiting to see who won at the SSUSA/LVSSA SW Championships in Las Veas last month!!

Discussion: auto-return w/team or must be reinvited each yr?

A question regarding a returning team's "next year roster".

Do players on your team (anyteam) assume he can continue with his current team for the next year if not told otherwise or should everyone have to be "re-invited" each year?

I think most players assume they're still on the team unless told otherwise...

How do most returning teams handle this?

Discussion: Any artificial turf fields at TOC?

I am packing for the TOC, does any one know if we might play on any fields that are artificial turf (60 AAA)?

I am trying to keep my baggage-weight as low as possible and I'm wondering if I should bring any turf cleats?

Discussion: Prescription Eye Glasses Versus No Glasses

Although I normally wear progressive I went with Oakley prescription lenses using my distance only prescription. I pitch and play problem with them...I originally bought the rose colored lenses for bright sunny days but have since purchased a second set of lenses and got the grey transitions for use on cloudy and night (under the lights) and they darken well enough to also use during bright days, they are now my all-around glasses. The lenses are interchangable on the frame - "Half Jacket" style. They come with a nice case that carry both the frame and an extra set of lenses. Check out the Oakley web site for more info...there are several styles to chooses from. Your eye doctor can order for them you.

Runner on first, less than 2 outs, batter hits a hard grounder to pitcher's right foot, pitcher attempts to make a back-handed grab but ball hits his glove and quickly bounces to the bag at 2nd where the 2nd baseman fields the ball, steps on the bag for the force-out but the umpire had already called “DBO” so no double-play was attempted.
Strangely, the mgr of the offensive team challenged the call?
I wonder if the “DBO” would have been called had the pitcher fielded the ball...probably not!

Although there were quite a few (around 10?) "shots" up the middle during our 5 games, this was the only one called.

Discussion: Nokona gloves

My opinion on glove size/weight is primarily based on your field position.

You mentioned that you’re interested in an infielder’s glove.

I would recommend a 12.5 – 13.0 for infield.

I would consider the weight of the glove, especially if you’re a pitcher (or third base)
I would opt for a lighter glove because the line-drive reaction time is minimal at those positions and you have very little time to put your glove in position to make a play.

If you prefer that a glove should “swallow” a ball (like first base or catcher), then go with a larger size, weight is not as much of a factor.

Middle infielders tend like a medium or smaller glove which is easier to maneuver and is ideal for a quick ball/hand exchange.

All size gloves can lose their shape and become “floppy”, this occurs because their laces have become old and worn…re-lace your old glove with fresh firm lacing and you’ll be surprised how rejuvenated it looks and feels.

Good luck choosing a glove!

I purchased tickets from SJC to Tampa on US Airways for $275 round-trip...thought I did great until I discovered that I had to pay baggage fee of $15 for the first bag and $25 for the second...both ways!!

Also, my ticket was a non-refundable type and now that my team has pulled out, it will cost me $150 to use this ticket a later date!

Something else to in January!

Since most flights will have a stop-over somewhere, try to avoid flights stopping at an airport that could have weather related delays like Chicago, Denver, Atlanta, etc. (mine was problem there).

Good Luck
