| Sept. 8, 2023 lb16 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: What do 12 and 6 foot arcs really look like? My rant on pitch arc. I have seen consistently in all senior sanctions. Pitcher throws pitch 8-10 inches over head height of an over 6' pitcher called illegal almost every time "flat". Next pitch 13-15' range hits mat no illegal "strike". All sanctions should go to 6-10' that way you don't have to constantly swing at 13' plus pitches a little over 10' or so would still be acceptable. I know it's underhand and all that but if it is being called correctly consistently something should be changed. JMO end of rant! |

I never stated intentionally dropping ball! Letting ball hit ground is allowed in every form of baseball! |

Yes the defense is being penalized for the batter not doing his job. Have turned multiple double plays by doing this in young ball was never called dead ball and the same applies to baseball rules including MLB. There is a reason the infield fly states runners on 1st and 2nd or bases loaded it is because no double play could ever be turned if runner runs to 1st with only 1 baserunner on 1st. |

I understand the ruling in relation to a dropped line drive or even a dropped pop-up. Still wanting to know why a not touched pop-up to infield with only a runner on 1st is called dead ball when not touched by fielder. Again rule is awarding batter for not running to 1st and penalizing defense. |

If the batter who hit ball runs toward 1st like he should it would not matter if fielder without touching ball lets ball hit ground. No double play could be turned. So you are penalizing the defense for the batter not doing his job and running to 1st. |

Nothing stated by me about basing decisions by SSUSA on the weather. It's going to be in the in the 20's at night and low 30's sat. morning for pool play. That is why I believe some teams backed out. JMO! |

Comparing to Senior balls out there the new Baden ball lags a good bit behind The Tattos that ISSA and now SPA use. Why SSUSA didn't just get there own version from Tattoo who knows. Maybe Dave can answer that. But will say this is the best ball SSUSA has used recently.JMO! |
