| Sept. 17, 2024 nickname36 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: hitting up the middle "EXACTLY" I pitched for about 13 years and loved it. Middle is part of the game and part of the field. If you don't want be hit at sometimes don't pitch there are 9 other places you can play plus DH'n like GPATOOT said. They pulled me out of pitching because I was more valuable to the team in the outfield but I'm always politicking to get back on the rubber and it usually goes in one ear and out the other LOL LOL.....Ive heard from time to time when somebody lasers one up the middle at the pitcher they say "YOU HAVE ONE STANDING THERE TO". Its all fun and games, I just laugh my butt off when it happens and I enjoy the jawing back and forth.... ... Always like your posts GPATOOT.... |
| Sept. 13, 2024 nickname36 | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Ball being used for Vegas? "EXACTLY" Everybody thinks they are a home run hitter even the smallest guy on the team. Its amazing how may games are lost because of the home run ego of a few players. Instead of trying to hit a single somewhere in a gap with bases juiced, tie game bottom of the 7th the batter only needs a single into the outfield or through the infield to win but his EGO won't let him go for the single but has to try and hit a HR and comes up popping out to 3d baseman. Ive seen it 100's of times and what's funny the same guy will be in a similar situation the next game and do the some thing. |

In softball both teams have to hit, catch, the same ball for the whole tournament, wineing does no good, The old saying "BEAT US WITH YOUR BATS NOT YOUR MOUTHS" holds true here. |

Ive seen it all forms, tennis balls in the bats to hitting wood telephone poles to popping the cap and shaving to rolling, guys are always bragging about there bats Bat shaving has filtered down to the girls playing travel fast pitch and high school fastpitch, its all about the sound the bat makes, SO SAD...The parents are to blame for teaching there kids how to cheat and the high school coaches go right along with the cheating. |

Hitting opposite field the last time I looked was a matter of waiting for an outside pitch and slightly turning your hips and hitting it to opposite field. I don't need to do all the contorting you say you do to just to hit opposite field home runs. I've hit a boat load(which is the same as a lot) of opposite field home runs useing this method. A home run is still a home run whether it clears the fence by 1 inch or if it clears the fence by 50 feet. What do you do when a pitcher can hit the back one inch of the carpet consistently both inside side and out side? |

Im sure the heck am not buying a new bat depending on what age group I'm playing in. There are a lot of illegal bats in 70s+ you can tell by the sound the bat makes when a ball comes off it. Its amazing if you keep your ears and eyes open what you can hear and see when your just standing around by a group of seniors. |

| July 22, 2024 nickname36 | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Westerns National Championship "EXACTLY" I to have dramatically downsized my tourney choices also for some of the same reasons as concerenedc1 . In my 50's all the way up to the 60's in Vegas we played 7 out of 10 tourneys at shadow rock and hollywood we never sniffed any tourney's down off the mountain. Vegas used to be fun to play at I played a lot of tourneys in Vegas from my 20's till senior ball and then we started getting stuck at shadow rock and Hollywood. We went to hemet and flagstaff and a few in phx and one in either st George or maybe Texas we folded the team as a team choice and went are serparate ways. I got hooked up with a team from hemet and been playing there a lot plus its shorter drive all so and alot and I mean alot less BS. |

| May 16, 2024 nickname36 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Am i wrong to think this way "EXACTLY" If rolling a bat is illegal, then what is hitting a wooden telephone pole about 1/2 to 3/4 swing speed about 150 to 200 times with a thin towel wrapped around the bat and turning the bat as you go, a lot of parks 20/30 years ago had wooden telephone light poles and you would see guy smacking the wooden telephone poles for ten minutes or so and no park director of umpire said anything about the practice.. What about hitting a bat with a rounded rubber mallet with a towel wrapped around the bat hitting it 150 to 200 times spinning it after each hit. What does the rule book say about these two ways of breaking in a bat. |

If I was umpiring I'd call the batters box the it way is was from day one and if your a pitcher your probably gonna get blown up once or twice. I was blown up a few times when I pitched(13 yrs) that's why I don't pitch any more, there are 9 other positions I can play. |

Why did you have change the batters box it worked just fine for a lot of decades. Then some people wanna change the commute line what's wrong with it the way it is? The only change I agree with is the orange bag at first base. We didn't really need it until guys didn't know how to run up the line and touch 1st base, there was always guys that wanted to step on your ankle when your foot was clearly on the inside of the base and they had all of the base to touch. |
