Discussion: New Qualifier in SoCal!

Keep your eyes open for a new qualifieing tournament in Fullerton, CA very soon. SCSA has been in business for over 20 years and is moving toward Senior Softball. The fields are great and have all facilities available including a nice snackbar.

Fullerton, CA is located in North Orange County and is 15 minutes from Disneyland & Knott's Berry Farm.

We do plan a qualifier in September for all of those last minute teams that need to qualify for Worlds. All levels are invited.

If you are interested in signing up, you may call George Abraham at 714/633-7272 or Mike Williams at 714/393-6453.

Discussion: SAN DIEGO QUALIFIER

Don't know alot about this qualifier other than good fields seem to be hard to find in San Diego. Poway is about the best, but that field is normally sold out to ASA, WSA & WSL first. I know Carl is trying.

UltraII. I've tryed the Combat. It was ok, but maybe just not broken in yet. I put one out at Seattle during my 2nd at bat with my Ultra II. It just gets better and the ball jumps off with a !!!! evry time.

As far as the Commercial D.L. goes, you are only allowed 1 D.L. If you have 2 or more, you will lose them all. I've had a CDL for 28 years...that's why I know.

As far as Steve's deal goes...seems to me that a meeting with Terry is in order. I would think something could be arranged here. I'll get to meet Steve when I play with Lecak and everyone at Mesquite this week.

C-ya there.

Discussion: strike zone/mat

Very interesting comments here.

For my money, USSSA pitching with plate and mat. Unfortunately, the strike zone and height are very subjective or should I say they change from umpire to umpire. That explains the plate and mat....if the umpire can see!!!

I'm not a big middle hitting guy, however I will say that when you're full count, no waste...guess what? And it's a fact that when the ball comes back middle, the pitcher is half of that equation.

Always alot of good opinions here.

Discussion: getting better all the time

I had the opportunity to swing Combat this last weekend. I put my first one on the fence...linedrive...the 2nd went over and I missed it terribly. I did like it and need to get a few more swings on one to know which weight will suit me.

I also have an Ultra 2...purchased at Seattle last year. The 2nd hit on that one was 350+...out of the wrapper. I have since hit several 400+ shots with that bat. I am going to swing Lecaks Rip It next week. I'm anxious to see how I do with that one.

Discussion: Upcoming Master's Tournaments

To all of you 40+ players out there:

Take a look at the tournament schedule. There are many Master's/40+ tourneys available this year. The Spring Worlds in Palm Springs, CA and the Spring Nationals in Polk County, Florida are in March. There is even a tournament coming in Honolulu, HI!

I've spoken to most of the tourney director's nationally and most agree that the Master's division is needed and most are anxious to include them in their tourneys.

Please take advantage of these tourneys. The Master's division is the foundation of Senior Softball.

If you have any questions, you can e-mail me at longballr@aol.com or call me thru the main office at 916/326-5303.

See you on the field!

Discussion: A SENIOR BOMB SQUAD?

Lecak,

You forgot to mention Big Robert's bomb that bounced off of the roof of that same ice rink. Not bad for 51.

Also, Northwest Masters had 2 big bombers including Kenny Dain. I saw him go out twice at 365+.

Should be fun yo watch.

I'll tell you that I was suprised to see as much rain as we did. However, under the circumstances the director's at Russell Road did a great job and the field prep crew worked their butts off.

All and all it was a great tourney. As for myself, I'd much rather play in the cooler weather.

Next year: Phoenix, AZ.

Take care all....

I'm Mike Williams. I am the new Master's National Director for Senior Softball.

I would like everyone to know that I'm working hard to build up this program nationally.

Several tournaments are coming up soon that may be of interest, including the Western National Championships in Reno, NV, July 22-23. The SSUSA Worlds Tournament will be in Seattle, WA this year. It is my goal to get 15-20 teams competing in the Master's.

More information can be found in the tournament section.

I can be reached at 714/393-6453 or you can contact Fran at Senior Softball for more information.

Thanks and I look forward to seeing you on the field.
