Discussion: Georgia player looking for 60/65 team for 2015

Ron

If your still looking, which I doubt, we have a new 60AAA team out of the Atlanta area. You may know some of the players. We are not sponsored but we plan on being around for a while. Good group of guys but may not make it too many Sunday games. We are registered and will be playing in most of the normal tournaments in GA., Alabama, Pensacola, and maybe the new Knoxville tournament. If interested email me at sag3206@yahoo.com

Any 55 teams headed here? Kaysons Grille 55 AAA is going to be there. I think Kaysons (Southern Elite)50 Major team is going also. Hope there will be a good turnout.

Discussion: ISA, Gallatin,

For the record: We were rated AAA in SSUSA when we turned in our entry. When we found out we were moved to major we called the director and informed him of this. He did not call us we called and emailed him. We offered to play major but we were bringing a good AAA team up there. As stated before we were told they would place us after pool play and they put us in the 50AAA bracket. We only scored 6 runs in our pool play game but if they watched the game they would have seen most of our outs were hit hard and played good defense. The team we played used 11 players since they were a AA team. For this tournament we had our starting 3b 57, ss 55, 2nd 51, LC 55 and pitcher 53. All other players there would have been subs if the others were there. Our lf 54 and rf 53 are regular subs but hit in most tournaments. Our rc 57, 1b 59, and catcher 58 are pretty much subs and play when needed and hit only in pool and bracket play until the finals.

We were missing our lf 51, rc 51, rf 50, both firstbasemen(Bruce and a 52 year old one of the best hitters on the team next to Bruce)and our 2nd pitch and best defensive pitcher 54(all of them legitamate major players). We did get a surprise on Saturday when one of our power hitters showed up. He had an achillies injury and could hit but not run or play defense. We did not expect him to be there. We won because we played great defense, hit good most of the tournament and got a good draw. We hit a total of 9 homeruns in 5 games and 4 were hit by 1 guy and 1 was an inside the parker. Used 3 in one game. I tink you will find that most teams would say they did not play very good when they played us except for the Chicago team the second time we played them. We enjoyed playing and we think got the respect of most of the teams as not being a bunch of jerks that won most games by playing small ball. Good defense, hits and speed. We also get along great as a team and enjoyed playing each team.

Discussion: ISA Worlds

The scoop on Kaysons,

When we sent our entry in we were still AAA in SSUSA. Since ISA went by SSUSA rankings and we knew we would not have our best team there we saw no reason to put us in at the major level. We found out several days ago that SSUSA moved us to major a few weeks ago and did not tell us. We called the director of the tournament today and informed him of this. He said we would play pool play in AAA and be moved to major if it looked like we were loaded. We told him we would do whatever he felt was best and felt we could compete at either level. We will be missing 4 or 5 starters but our subs are pretty good. I don't think we could win either division with the team we are bringing up there but we can give most everyone a run for their money. We do not sandbag and we play with who we have on our team. We don't pick up players just for one tournament. That's why we have stayed together for so long.

Discussion: Congratulations to Kaysons Grille

Sorry I forgot to add we did place 2nd this year in the Tournament of Champions took the Tuson Bandits to the if game then got clobbered by them. They are a very good team. I love the "ME" "ME" "ME" thing they do. I'm going to steal that from them and use it when we play. We also won the Marietta tournament but those were mostly local teams except Pinehurst. We love playing those guys. Good group of players and we always give each other fits when we play. I think we are even with them or they may be one up on us now. What is it Brian are you guys one up? Monty Blair will know he has all that information stuffed in his head someplace.

Discussion: Congratulations to Kaysons Grille

Hi Corky,
There really is no secret. Until the Fall Nationals we never won a major tournament. Even in the Fall Nationals it was not a very strong tournament. We did well in the tournaments but never finished first or even second in a tournament that had more than four teams. We qualified for the tournament of champions in the southern regionals twice and they had four teams there each time. I'm assumming we will be moved up to major now since we won the Spring Nationals. No one will complain about that either. We always said we would at least like to win a major tournament before moving up. We should be moved up now. You guys won two major tournaments last year I think and that is why they moved you up. You guys are a great team and we enjoyed playing you. Good luck the rest of the season.

Discussion: Monster Softball

Glad to see Monster Softball moved back down to the AAA division. They should never have been moved up in the first place. Very good team but never won any major tournaments that would have supported the unreasonable move to major in the early spring.

Kind of wish they were still there since they have our number this year.

Discussion: Popular TV Series from 1948 – 1979 reaches 108!

Hey Dudley,

I used to get up early saturday morningds and whatch the Big Picture in the early 50's. Looked it up to make sure I was correct and here is what I found.

The Big Picture was a documentary television program which ran on the American Broadcasting Company from 1953 to 1959. The program consisted of documentary films produced by the United States Army Signal Corps Army Pictorial Service, showing weaponry, battles, and biographies of famous soldiers.

Discussion: ASA Nationals Question?

Hey 2awesom,

Not sure where you placed last year in the ASA Nationals but I doubt it was dead last. I know you beat us, Kaysons Grille AAA 11-2. maybe you lost all of them after that. I know we were very impressed with your team. You have a very good AAA team. Not sure how well you will do as a major team but that's the price you pay for winning some National Tournaments.
I beleive you guys won the Fort Myers Winter Nationals the last two years in the AAA division. I think you were undefeated both years but not sure about that. You placed second in the Tournament of Champions this year. I would be surprised if they let you play in the AAA division of the ASA Nationals.
We have a good team but have never been able to climb that last hurdle and win a major tournament. We qualified for the Tournamnet of Champions in a 4 team tournament the first part of last year but that was it. We were able to beat some good teams and held our own with most but can't seem to put it all together when it counts.

Good luck to you guys
