Discussion: Forming a new Senior Softball Club

I am moving to Santa Cruz, CA in a couple of months & plan on forming a new softball club for seniors Men 60+ & Women 50 + I would like to know the procedures to be an affiliate of SSUSA. My plan is to use a 14" ball, starting as a recreational workout program that will hopefully develop into a league. I would like to hear from interested seniors & suggestions on how to proceed. I have some interested individuals already, but need as many as possible to make a successful program.

Things like waivers, insurance, etc. I need info on. Who should I contact @ SSUSA for help & information? I will be contacting recreation departments in Santa Cruz & Capitola for use of practice fields, etc. I have talked to Play it Again Sports & Jerry's Sports about distributing flyers.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My name is Bob Good, I can be contacted by E-Mail: bponomaui@comcast.net

Discussion: Making a ball choice for a recreational league.

In Maui we play(over 60) with a 14" ball (not a mushy clincer ball) & it's a great ball, we see it better, it's a little slower, but we still get hard hits & a few homers. I'm hoping to bring it to the Santa Cruz area & hope it gets acceptance.

Discussion: Softball for Santa Cruz, Ca

I'm looking to form a local recreational level, not a tournament level program. I've checked w/ rec dept in SC & Capitola and as far as I know there is no local program for seniors. I know of No Dice, played against them years ago in fast pitch, haven't heard of SC Irregulars. I would like to start weekly or twice weekly workouts that may create interest in forming a league. I have some contacts from old playing days, but not enough to get anything going.
