It would be great if there was a device that could both show bat speed and ball exit velocity. Not sure that exists. Bruce. Seems like there are a lot of different versions of the Pocket Radar. What model are you using? I'm assuming that it measures your exit velocity of the softball. Is that correct? |

There are a lot of discussions about bat speed vs what type of bat you should use. I would like to find out what my bat speed actually is and I know others would like to do the same. Seems like it would be a useful tool to tweak your swing with as well. Thanks in advance for any recommendations you have. |

It looks like my team wants to play in the Midwest Championships so I'll be able to provide some feedback whether I like it or not :). I know scheduling isn't easy and there are a lot of factors involved. I would just prefer to play important tournaments at a time where the probability of good weather is a little higher. My only point was that I think most would take a lesser complex and better weather if the decision was made based on a new complex being available. The question was somewhat rhetorical because I know nothing will change once you publish the schedule for the year. I appreciate what you all do for us old farts still trying to play this game. Have a great Thanksgiving and hope 2024 brings you and the staff there the best. |
| Nov. 14, 2023 STL0 | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Midwest Championships Is there any chance of rescheduling the Midwest Championships to something later in the year? The weather in KC in April is pretty crappy for playing softball historically. The Cowtown was held then and there have been plenty of times I've had to scrape ice of the windshield before heading to the ballpark from the hotel. Also broke a few bats since it was so cold. Nice complex but if the price for playing there is having an important tournament in April, that's a mistake. I quit playing in the Cowtown...now it looks like I'll vote against that one when we make our team schedule. |

Have any of you used these and have any feedback on them? Any other recommendations on bat bags would be appreciated. I have a Demarini Special Ops bag but zippers have broken and the rubber railing on the bottom came off. I really liked the bag but didn't hold up to airport baggage handling very well. Must have had a bad day. Joking aside, if it didn't have a name tag somewhere on it, it was probably someone relatively local who thinks it is in the trunk of their car. Anyone who checked the bag would likely have a name tag on it. |

It's not a Rock but I personally think the Rock us too much. The ball did get dirty quickly and did retain the color of the dirt which I thought was strange. I never saw a ball do that before. Anyone who hit an HR earned it and that's the way it should be. |
| March 28, 2022 STL0 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Batting out of order If the runner on third was paying attention or anyone else on the team (scorekeeper, coach, etc.), you should know that you have to attempt to score from 3rd on that at bat under that circumstance so you tag up and go on the fly ball. You try to keep it quiet or the other teams just walks the batter and the inning is over. I would think that the runner on 3rd had to know that he was up next. Did he attempt to score? |

If you do choose to stay there, be aware that you should make sure your door closes all of the way to your room and deadbolt it. SSUSA: I would recommend not using this facility as one of your sponsored hotels. They don't deserve the business. I know they are not your responsibility but I would not want to be associated with that place in any way. |

We were told once at a tourney that it had to be taken. Is that correct? The rule book doesn't seem to address whether or not it is required. it just explains what the equalizer is and when it applies. |

| July 22, 2021 STL0 | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Sweet Construction/Eastern Nationals We had to pull out of a tournament for the first time since I've been playing senior ball last week due to injuries. Everyone had travel plans and rooms booked as well. We only had 11 and one person we were counting on as part of the 11 couldn't go based on doctor's advice. Out of the remaining 10, 2 were nursing injuries so we likely would have forfeited games if we did go. There was no bail out disease involved. Just couldn't field a team. We were as sorry it played out that way as anyone. |
| June 22, 2021 STL0 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Need clarification on rule batter box lines We played at the Smokies at Know County Sportsplex and there were no lines there for the box at any time from what I recall. Our manager wanted to complain about one of the batters on the other team being out of the box and I told him to let it go because if there aren't any lines, how can you expect the umpire to make that call. I'm surprised that call was made on you. My personal opinion is that if there are no lines, you can't be out of the box. |
| May 11, 2021 STL0 | Topic: Bats Discussion: UTRIP -senior ? Irishmike. If you're just getting back into things and don't want to spend top dollar, look on line for older models that are still NIW. Overall, you won't see much of a difference between what is the hot model today over a 2019 model. There are used bats for sale as well but that's a bit more risky because you don't know how they were treated by the seller and senior bats are more likely to break. If you can find anyone in your area that would let you take a few swings with different models, that's even better so you can get an idea of what you like. Good luck. |

Maybe bat him at lead off and at least you get someone on base to start the game each time. The only real cure for that is having someone that can mash right behind him so it costs the team walking him. |
