Discussion: Everybody fill in the blank............$$$

The old saying "to whom much is given, much is expected" comes to mind. There are a lot of near term things I would do to make life easier on myself, family and friends but it would be a burden to figure out how to handle that amount of wealth out of nowhere. One of the main concerns would be for the safety of immediate family. Someone I worked with many years ago won a about $15 million and had people showing up at his house and following him asking for money and sometimes demanding money. You'd have to be very careful about things once people knew who won. That part would be pretty scary.

After you take care of immediate needs, it would be hard to decide who you would want to help. Anyway, it's worth a few bucks to dream for a few minutes each day.

I will send an email with all of this information to the person that runs the 50 Cal clubs that are 55 and up. I do know that the 50 Cal 50s squad does not have any openings on its roster at this time. Good luck in finding a home for 2016.

Discussion: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR RULING WMC 50-Major Matter

Neck10/ Slap hitter: I am always one to just jump on the field and play so I understand what you're saying but if they are really going to change rules and want to get a quorum or consensus, the current process doesn't allow for that.

Discussion: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR RULING WMC 50-Major Matter

With respect to this whole discussion, does anyone think it is a pretty ridiculous process for people to fly across the country to attend a meeting in order to discuss a rule change? I laugh every time staff posts that. Here's the conversation at home.

Hey hun...I know you're not very excited about me being gone a lot of weekends and the money we put towards softball but I just wanted to let you know that I've got one more trip this year. It'll just cost about $600 so we can discuss possible rule changes...are you cool with that?

In all seriousness, that's not a process that will ever get you any kind of consensus on rule changes that SSUSA members think are needed. Since I hate complaints without a solution, let people suggest rule changes via email and only include comments from registered SSUSA members from their registered SSUSA email addresses. Pick the top 5 items and put rule changes out to a vote using a similar process. Or let each registered team have 1 vote and only votes from registered team managers count. Just throwing it out for discussion and probably should have started a new thread but this thread is already all over the board.

Yo Teach: I was able to reach someone at Tournament Sports. Her name is Jacque Wilson and her email address is jmwilson1961@gmail.com . I have a phone number but not sure that she would like that shared on this board. Let me know if you do not have success by email and I will give you the phone number. You can contact me at 314-560-8682 if you need additional info.

Discussion: New Mizuno Erupt Turf/Cleats

Thanks for the info Alan. Do they feel more solidly built than the Boombah turf shoes in your opinion? I like the Boombahs but they fall apart quickly on me typically. I have been looking for something as comfortable as those that have some durability.

Discussion: SCREENS IN TOURNAMENTS

If you use a screen, the pitcher should not be allowed to field a ground ball (could still be allowed to cover bases for force outs though). You can't have a 5 foot area that you can't hit to and then also allow a pitcher to cover extra area. That doesn't make sense. I personally don't like using them but I understand the concern.

Discussion: Why is this rule not enforced??

This pretty simple. If you step out of the box and get called out, no complaining and no exceptions. It's the rule.

16 Wood. I think he had that and the other team for the outright win. What he did was almost impossible to do. I say ALMOST impossible because I saw it. Other than that, I wouldn't believe it could be done.

Discussion: First time for everything

We had a ball bounce off of our outfielders glove while running towards the fence which catapulted it about 12 feet out of the part for a game ending, walk off, 4 base error last year in a tourney. I hadn't seen a game end like that one before.

Discussion: Can you get faster?

HJ: The easiest way for me to get faster is by losing my gut but that hasn't seemed to happen. You probably are not afflicted with that ailment though. I keep taking my liquid supplement but it hasn't worked yet in the past 30 years. I not giving up on the Coors Light though, it may work some day. I just need to stick with it a little longer!

I agree Len. That's quite a job by the Merchants this year. The Merchants are always one of the teams in the Midwest where we know it's going to be a battle when we play. Congrats on the really strong finish in the plus division.

I tried to find out how to order the 2014 dri-fits after the tournament last year and could not get a response. You may want to post something to their Facebook page or message that page and see if you can get a response. PS...still interested in 2014 shirts if they are around anywhere.

First, thanks to those who provided the info on the top 3 finishers in 50 Major Plus. I appreciate.

With respect to the ongoing dialogue between Benji and Tim, you are both obviously 2 very good players on very good teams that both had great accomplishments in this tourney. Hopefully it can end there. Good luck in 2016.

Bruce: If I recall, there was a fight in the 40s division in Vegas somewhat because of the 6.16 rule. If I recall correctly, the pitcher of one team did not think it was safe to pitch because of the sun in his face, the officials would not suspend the game and then the 2 teams had words which ended in fights and suspensions. I've never seen 6.16 used anywhere though. It seems like danger to the pitcher would be a good thing to call. You should be able to play through most wind conditions.

Before everyone rails on me. I am playing senior ball so I'm old and my memory of the events last year may not be correct so take it easy on me if I'm wrong.

Discussion: Shadow Rock & Hollywood Field Conditions

Dave: You seem to have a knack for categorizing comments/observations as complaints. If you think any of the observations are incorrect, please add your comments. Instead of commenting on 2 threads, I would add that if the outfields at BLD have not received water due to lack of rain and/or watering, then that would seem to infer that the observations are valid.

Here is another observation. Be careful what you ask for if you want to play at BLD and play the outfield. It is quite tricky because each of the fields have different configurations so you have to play each field differently and understand how the ball will travel off the fences. We wasted a lot of energy running around the first year we played there because we were not familiar with those details. Once you gain that experience, you have a good understanding of how/where you should play. When you play on fairly standard fields all year with symmetrical set ups, it takes some adapting to.
