Don't care what age and what scoring criterion are used. .615 and .658 are sooooo ordinary.

I received the news this afternoon of Joe's passing and have had a cloud hanging over me since. He was a great opponent and an even better teammate. My thoughts and prayers go out to Joe's wife, Connie.

Don't underestimate the power of ice. After you're done for the day and back at the hotel, fill a couple of Ziploc bags and ice those knees for no more than 20 minutes. If needed, do it again an hour later. Good Luck

OKay, I know I am going to piss off someone, but I worked all day and I'm drinking some good Irish Whiskey so I don't care.
The powers that be make very little money, if any at all, at the Major Plus division. Seriously, how can you offer rings to a four team field and turn a profit. You can't.
The money is made at the Major and AAA levels.
Forget AA. If new teams start at the AAA level, then how bad do you have to be to be rated AA. Sorry Tommy.
SSUSA does not want to discourage teams from entering their "cash cow" tournaments,so winners have to move up.I played for Double Edge last year. We could play for the next ten years and not even make it to Sunday but we understand how the game is played. We got moved up and we disbanded.
SSUSA is there to make money and not to provide a good experience for old men.Don't even bring Karl Marx into the conversation.

Lecak: I went back over my post and I am stumped how you got the idea I was betting on Denver. I'm guessing that you didn't do very well on the reading comprehension sections in the standarized tests that we all had to take.
Whatever dude; I have thick skin and can stand people poking fun at me.
By the way, I only made one bet today and, thanks to Eli Manning, I was able to ever so slightly raise your taxes. I'll buy you a drink next time I play in Vegas.

Glad to see you back in action Mike. To teams looking: Mike is a good player but an even better person. He will be an asset to any team he plays on.

P.S. You guys are old enough to remember Billy Kilmer and Joe Capp. A quarterback needs more than a cannon for an arm.

Discussion: Tebow

Having spent time in the military, I cannot help but wonder how great Tebow would be as an officer. Do you think his troops would follow him? If you have even spent one minute in the military you already know the answer. He would be awesome.
We spend so much time bemoaning the loss of heroes and role models for today's youth. One comes along and we crum on him because he points at the heavens and credits God for his success. Would you rather have him taunt his opponents?
Lighten up on the guy. If you are not that much into religion then appreciate the kid for taking an ordinary team to the playoffs. If you do believe that God is actually involved in our earthly affairs then I suggest taking the points and betting your balls off.

Two out, bases loaded, tying run on third. You walk the batter intentionally. That's my definition of an impact player.

Andy, I'm doing well; thanks for asking. Not having to run for you has cut down on the wear and tear to my legs:)
I've been playing with D&K and having a good time. They are all great guys and have made me feel welcome. The only problem is finding tournaments to play in. I'll be with them on Sunday in Temecula. Give me a shout if you're in the area.

Discussion: What Define a Major Plus Player, a Major Player and a AAA player and Who rates Them

As one of the Double Edge orphans who has been forced to move up, let me offer a perspective from a first time Major+ player. Offensively, I have not noticed any difference. Good hitters are good hitters regardless of who is in the field. On defense is where I might be overmatched. The game is faster, outfielders need to cover more ground and there are no breaks in the lineup. To those players that know me, I miss the days when I was called 50-50.
What I miss the most is playing in tournaments like Reno, Phoenix, and the Western Regionals.
Other than Vegas, there are no places to play that will have enough teams to justify the cost. Instead, we play in local tourneys against 50&55 Major teams. By all means, combine the divisions.

My team is coming from California and I am much more concerned with the weather reports than game times. Is MSN's prediction of thunder storms worth worrying about?

I have been using Osteo Bi-flex Triple Strength for several years and it has really helped me. The recommended dose is twice daily but once my knees started feeling better, I cut back to once daily and I feel fine.
The stuff is pricey but you can usually find a store that has it on sale or check it out on Amazon. Good Luck

Discussion: Looking for a 55+ Team in the Los Angeles Area!

Go to Olive Park in Burbank this Sunday. The playoff finals of both divisions start at 8:30am. Four of the eleven teams will be playing, but most of the other teams will have players in the stands watching. Ask around. The new league will be starting soon and most teams are always on the lookout for new players. Good Luck

Discussion: Equaliizers - Are They Equal? Maybe Not

Just my opinion, but I think the best way to equalize the game is to get rid of the CR and limit the extra hitters to one or,at the most, two. If you hit, then you run for yourself and play the field. Give me those conditions and I will be happy to play a Major Plus team.

Discussion: Stick8 what is the right call?

If runner is in contact w/ the base, dead ball, runner safe, everyone forced moves up one base. Bases loaded, runner on third scores, still have bases loaded. Second and third, no one scores, you now have bases loaded. If the ump believes the runner on third intentionally let the ball hit him then dead ball, runner is out, batter goes to first, all other runners move up one base if forced.
