If anyone who gets a hit to the outfield and gets thrown out at first base ( save a pulled hammy, falls down in the box, or a heart attack/heat stroke) needs to hang up the shoes and start coaching (if he wants to stay around the game)!!! Are they really trying to take that part out of the game, too?

Please tell me this not true!!

Heif, you old "Playboy" you!

I would NEVER say anything about or towards your wife or your mother!! And I do apologize for the Obama remark.....that was a very low blow!!

I like a Superman and one who's confident enough to admit he's Freggin Awesone!! I knew once I got to know you, I would like you!!

sheesh Heif, No one is telling EVERYONE to start hitting the middle! Bob and Joe, keep pulling the ball, Lenny and Richie, keep hitting to the right!! Keep doing what you guys do best!! Leave the middle to Larry, Moe and Curly! They'll get the job done!!

Really, how many players go at the pitcher with the intent of getting a piece of him? Most hit to the right or to the left of him, or hit the ball over his head just out of his reach....

Maybe in Heif's softball world, hitting backside isn't fair either, tho, just like hitting middle, it is part of the game! I would put money on this...Heif is one of these guys that would like it to be mandatory that the pitcher has to pitch behind a screen! Oh well, to each his own!

titanhd,

Since when is getting a hit up the middle not part of the game? Always has been and always will be...

How is that acting, thinking and responding like kids? Oh, and "kids" hit the middle.....a lot!!

And why do "Grown 50+ year old men" have to change the way we play softball?

But really, I think we shouldn't even keep score and all of us should get trophies at the end of the tournament, too! Don't want anyone's feeling to get hurt....after all, it's "just a game"!!

sheesh....It's really sad what this is game becoming in some peoples mind??

Discussion: Miken Senior Bat Review- shich is the best bat of the 3?

wow, is there really a "break in" period for Senior Softball bats? Every SS bat I've ever swung came HOT out of the wrapper!!

I will give you an example: about 6 of us fellas hit on Sunday, baseball field, 354ft in the power alleys! One of the guys has a NIW 27oz Triad Blackout...24 balls in the bucket (tattoo 44/375 used). He takes 24 swings, hits the ball pretty good, through the hole fast and some great line shots. I ask if I can swing his bat and he gives me the nod! Pick up the bat and the first 3 swings with it I hit the balls over the 354ft sign, toss the bat aside and say "there's nothing wrong with this bat"!!

All I'm saying here is ALL SS bats come out of the wrapper HOT! I guess you know the bat breaks in when you start hitting the ball 370ft?

That being said, my Miken bat of choice is a 30oz White 2-piece!!

titanhd,

Who said anything about "willful intent"?? I just said hit the middle, said nothing about hitting the pitcher! But, you will read into the statement what you will! Seems to me that "pitcher 13" brought whatever he got or would get onto himself, anyway!!

My question is ..... did Terry and/or Dave take any action against #13 as they would have no problem in doing so, or did they just draw a red line ?

So, I read the COE for SSUSA and no where did it say one cannot hit the middle!! Add the mandatory face mask into the equation and I am fine with my statement! Never been one to cower from bullies! Sometimes a little reminder will put them in their place and clam down the situation! If not, hit the middle a few more times!

I like tightline's response!

Mr Heifner seems to live in the obamanation, as he will keep drawing a red line then keep moving it back! sigh!!!

God Bless American!!

Outsider,

Quit your whining....hell, if he was the "pitcher" your team should've grabbed your n-sacs, told him to shut the #### up and then start hitting the middle!

JMHO.....lol

To The (?) Question : I use 30oz when swinging any Combat (all thou, I did swing a 28oz White Centarian (sp) in Vegas and I can say that this was (cracked both of the two I had) the HOTTEST Senior bat I've have the pleasure of swinging, so far!! Mikens and Reeboks 29oz works best for me!!

As for the bat speed drills I use:

Yes, the BigCat's drill is awesome.....just a few tweaks here and there (for me)!
I warm up with taking slow swings with a sledge hammer to loosen up, then use Mike's program but use a heavier bat on the heavy swings and a lighter bat for the light swings! After that, and because I have some land I can hit on, I've marked off 300, 320, and 350ft. I have a tee set up and a target to aim for. I then I hit the ball off the tee towards the target keeping the same swing for the same direction every time! I do this to keep my power swing consistent!

Other than that, I just keep my eye on the ball, swing at my pitch in my hitting zone and swing HARD every time!

PJ3P,

you're kidding, right?

all senior softball bats are "game ready" right out of the wrapper!
it's the person or his swing that's not "game ready" !
I can't see why any senior softball player would have to pay or have someone else "break in" his SENIOR bat.....just plan re-dik-uless!

Let me help you guys out on the Barrage bats....26oz, 27oz, piece of crappppp!
28oz holds up and has AWESOME pop (right out of the wrapper, no break in needed)

So, for all you fellas who think 1 or 2oz is that big of a deal when swinging the bat, I suggest you 1. Pump some Iron! 2. Do bat speed drills!! 3. Keep you eye on the ball!!!

MASS (heavier weighted bat) + SPEED (bat speed drills) = a harder and/or further hit ball!! I learned that watching "The Big Bang Theory"!!

HJ,

I lean towards the "perhaps not" !

As a heads-up here.....you don't have to accept the "gift card" Reebok will send you for a cracked bat return. Dave called and talked to one of the upper management fellas at Reebok and got a check for the cost of the Barrage.

So, unless you want a new pair of shoes or some nice t-shirts (can't ever have enough of those, can we!) I suggest you make sure you talk to the right guy to get your hard earned money back ! Just a thought, tho.

The balls we used were ISA and ISSA Tattoo...44/375....24 old & 24 new

Also, had another guy, Jimmy Z, crack his new out of the wrapper DeMarini ONE after about 50 swings! Just a good day to crack bats, I suppose!
