Discussion: Getting game ball back to pitcher in a quick manner

Does your league use a pitching screen ?

Is so, put one or two balls behind the pitching screen. When there is a foul ball or a wet ball have the pitcher pick up one of the extra balls.

Discussion: Preparing for Hip Replacement

Try this website: surfacehippy (just google "surfacehippy")
ALLPRO had great suggestions. Make sure you go INTO surgery in the best physical shape possible. You will come out of surgery so much easier. Try water walking. Before my surgery (metal in both hips) I went to the pool and walked/ran every day
Do the rehab ! I still do my hip exercises after 8 years. And I now play in three senior leagues and tournaments.
Good luck !

Discussion: STRIKE MAT

I am aware that several Senior Softball Leagues use a strike mat that has been constructed to allow players to hear the clunk of the pitched ball hitting the strike mat. Love the sound !

I would like to construct a similar strike mat. My concerns are: The thickness of the strike mat. Will players trip ? Will the strike mat slide under foot when stepped on ? Will the player's foot slide on the strike mat when there is a play at the plate and the player taking the throw home slips ?

What material creates the loudest "thunk" or "clunk"? Wood ? Plastic? Metal ? Other ?

I am seeking advice from those of you who have constructed strike mats and those other creative individuals who have suggestions.

Thank you

Discussion: ISSA MYRTLE BEACH TOURNAMENT EXPERIENCE

We have encountered 70 Major teams in the 70 AAA bracket. It is unfortunate to run up against a Major team while playing AAA. Your AAA team may get a lower seed due to a loss to a Major team then run up against a Major team in bracket play and get knocked into the loser's bracket or knocked out of the tournament because you played a Major team instead of AAA.
This senario occurred in the ISSA Myrtle Beach Tournament a while back. A AAA team played a Major team in the preliminaries and got a low seed. Then lost to the same Major team in bracket play. The AAA team opted out of the ISSA Myrtle Beach Tournament for a while.

I am curious to know if any other teams played with used balls in the preliminaries and in the first bracket game. Also curiuous if any other teams had only one umpire in that first bracket game.

Discussion: ISSA MYRTLE BEACH TOURNAMENT EXPERIENCE

Last fall our 70 AAA tournament team played in the ISSA Myrtle Beach Tournament.
We were surprised and disappointed that the two preliminary games were played without being provided any new balls. Only used balls.
In addition, we played our first bracket game the same day without being provided any new balls and with only one umpire (instead of typically two umpires for bracket play).

Has anyone experienced this at the ISSA Myrtle Beach Tournament or any other ISSA tournament ?
