June 17, 2024 Vance+50 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Does the run count Thanks for the details. I always thought if I didn't have to apply the tag, it was considered a force out. Thanks again for the answer. |
June 17, 2024 Vance+50 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Does the run count Situation. Runners on 1st and 3rd, 1 out. Fly ball hit into the outfield and was caught, runner on first does not tag up, just takes off. Runner on 3rd tags up legally and crosses the plate before the force out is made at 1st base on throw from outfield. I've seen it called both ways, what's the correct call? Does the run count? |

Feb. 14, 2023 Vance+50 | Topic: Players looking to join a team Discussion: Looking to join a 60's team. Probably should add a little substance to this. I played with Montgomery Swarm for several years. Have been playing in the infield, 1B or 2B, but can run in the outfield as well. Hit with some power and good average. 61 years old. |

Feb. 27, 2019 Vance+50 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Southpaw's One- day Practice Tourney/Alabama Good luck being able to play Friday. the forecast I just saw was worse Friday than Saturday. of course that could change 3 times before the weekend. so it surprises me that you cancelled so early. |
Feb. 26, 2019 Vance+50 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Weather Brett, are you guys coming to Montgomery in a few weeks? I see you're in for Birmingham next weekend, weather permitting. |
March 5, 2018 Vance+50 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Birmingham tourney, March 3 Thanks for doing this every year, always nice to get the season kicked off. Games actually were ahead of schedule all day, so playing the full 7 innings shouldn't be an issue from a time stand point. We had a good time and look forward to Montgomery in a couple weeks. Thanks again for giving us a place to start the season. |
Nov. 16, 2017 Vance+50 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Rules question This runner leaving 2nd then becomes a force out. No runs should score. |
April 26, 2017 Vance+50 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Playing with a 5 man infield... To run a 5 man, you better have 3 outfielders that can cover some ground. If not, a good team will run them ragged. I see the young guys running a 5 man, plenty of wheels in the outfield. Would seem to me to be more difficult in the Senior division. Maybe the opportunities to turn double plays offsets the amount of ground each outfielder has to cover. |

April 26, 2017 Vance+50 | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Umpires- Pitching Rules I noticed that as well in Valley last weekend. Anything around 10 feet was an illegal pitch. Saw some pitches called that didn't get over my head, wish it was because I was 6'5", but sadly that isn't the case. But what Paco mentions about pitchers throwing somewhere between the rubber and second base (closer to 2nd base) is the bigger problem to me. I don't pitch and if I did I would want to be as far away as possible, but this is a problem that needs to be corrected. |
April 26, 2017 Vance+50 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: home advantage So are you saying that when a 60M plays a 55AAA, the 55AAA gets 3 and out and the Major gets 6 and out in the same game? That doesn't sound like a plan I would sign up for if I was the AAA team. Is this really how SSUSA does it? |
