I would like to see the tournament be later, the answer is not to devide the tourneys by Major and AAA/AA. You play the 50/55's early so they can play before school starts etc. And play the 60/65's in Sept or Oct. That was we can do Plano or Oklahoma.

Congrats to High Desert on the win and Hidden Hills for coming back thru the losers bracket for 2nd.
Also congrats to Hot Springs in the AAA for their run through the losers bracket to grab 4th place.
I thought the 60AA was very balanced and several teams could have won, the weather was a major factor Saturday in the losers bracket, maybe we need to cut the RR games to 2 Thursday and play at least 2 DE games on Friday. And maybe a cut in the fee. But I would rather just draw for the seeds and play a DE with a consolation bracket, playing 2 or 3 RR games is no way to seed a national tournament. That way teams will have to get all their players to a site on the first day. Hey its the nationals take an extra day off.

Looking to trade the green Mayhem 26 for last years ASA version up to 26,27 or 28. Not hit hard. Can't use in league.

I hope Hidden Hills won, if so they had to come through the losers bracket. They beat us in the RR 12-13 in the bottom of the 7th, best game we played. Brookes Bend and High Desert were the 2 undeafeated teams in DE Saturday. They had beated Hidden Hills and the Texas Classic. We played Greyhounds 65's and Wildcatters twice each this year and lost both, glad to see you both in the finals. We had played 2 AA teams this year until Plano. i guess playing better teams did not work for us.

Played in the 60AA this weekend, did not do well. but I thought it was a very balanced tourney. Not a lot of HR's in any of our games. I heard that one of the teams in AA did play AAA in the NSA tourney, how would that happen?? I did see a few teams in the 60AAA that might be Major, any time you see a lot of home runs thats not a AAA team. As I have said before AAA needs to be like AA x number of HRs and then an out, with no penalty for HR's teams can load up on big hitters and play down. I did not get back out Sunday anyone have results for the 60aa and AAA

I understand you don't need 20 but if you have only 14 players why not bat all of them. The normal problem in AA is that the guys who can't hit also can't field. I guess this is differant as you get to the upper divisions. But I think most thing are good that allows more players to play or players to play for a longer perior of time.

I just got around to reading the post on this subject, you guys must have a lot more player than we do. In the round robin we have about 13 players and we bat them all and rotate in the field. They go with the best in the DE. If you are like us most weekends some of our standout D players don't hit a lick and the eh guys hit lights out. It would be great to have great D players and eh guys who can pinch run but we have the normal I think, eh are the slow guys who can't play much D. But we are AA and I'm sure other divisions have differant issues.

Discussion: SPA Thursday results 50AAA

55AAA Texas Seniors went 0-2, Hitmen from NJ looked good. Tough AAA?? one team in the losers bracket Steel Dogs or something like that hit about 8 HR's in one game. Hitmen also looked boarder line Major. Who won 55AA Birmingham looked good in the games I watched. I'm not sure I like the HR's being singles after 2 in AAA no penality for sandbagging down in class for a team with a lot of power. HR limits are there for a reason, keep big knockers where they belong in Major and Plus. I would have no problem with 2 and one up but with HR's an out until the one up happens.

I think the problem is spreading the games out so much vs playing back to back in VERY HOT weather. I think the answer is don't play so many age groups or divisions at the same time. But this would mean bring in directors and umps for several weeks in a row and I assume the field rental might be a problem. I would be for playing more games if they all counted, the RR games are a waste of time and energy. But by not playing the 3 useless games and playing a true RR tourney then you get your money's worth.

I've been trying to find out where teams will be playing tomorrow, ie McKinney, Frisco or Plano. Coaches that I talked to said they would not know until managers meeting tonight. At least you should be able to get the first game info early in the week since it is RR play. Only down side of SPA Nationals a lot of down time and fields sitting empty. Get started at 8:00 and use all fields, AA's and 70's should be able to use the 280' fields with the 20 foot fences. Also who would like to cut back to 2 RR games and cut the entry fee by several bucks.

Discussion: AA teams coming to Plano

Ridge said this weekend that there were a lot of teams in the 60 AA division coming to play. Who's coming. We have only 1 AA 60 team in the DFW area. And in 4 tournaments we have only played only 1 other AA team.

Had a good time in Ardmore even if we were the only AA team in the tourney. We played 4 good AAA 60's and a very good 65 Greyhound team. Went 0-5 and it was HOT. But Ardmore had the best outfields we have played on this year. Very nice complex and a big thanks to the Directors and field people who kept us in cold water all day. Congrats to the Okies who won the AAA. See everyone in Plano in a few weeks. Red

Discussion: Ultra II's Why?

My suggestion has always been, single walls for AA, double walls for AAA and Major and Plus hit anything you bring. This would keep sudo Major players out of these divisions. I know chicks dig the long ball but hey we are over 50, safety should be a priority. The lower division do not have the skills of the big boys. As I told someone complaining once about the Majors, these guys were better than us when we were 20 and they are still better.. I do thing the Miken is to hot for the lower division. It's not about HR's its about the speed in which a ball gets to the pitcher, 3rd baseman or a base runner, as someone said in this thread there is a reason the young guys don't use this bat. It was to hot last year when Miken was not a WORTH""
bat??? Amazing how a few bucks will change someones mind.

Wondering how the KC Fire did in this division. In Mustang they were put in the Silver Division pounded us and went undefeated. Team that seems like they were in the wrong division was Scrap Iron 60 in the Major Plus, good hitting and fielding team but not enough power to play with the other teams. Good balls plus Mikens equaled a lot of HRs.

Discussion: Major-Plus Impact Player List

Two things, most + players don\'t play down in AAA or AA.
What we AA\'s have to watch out for is Major and high AAA Players and teams playing down. Or honestly tournament directors not watching the games and letting these teams play. On a lighter note, Randy Hendicks on the list, ???? Randy is a nice player but I don\'t think so, someone is sucking up big time.

Discussion: Hot Springs

We are going to Ardmore in late July and then the Nationals. I hope we get some new AA teams in Ardmore but I don't know. The one in Mustang was good, a lot of new teams but playing the AAA's was a pain and then only making 2 teams AAA for the double was bad. We predicted the top 2 in the AA and it was Teeters and the team from KC who went undefeated. If those 2 had went AAA it would have made 2 good brackets. I'm not sure what they were looking at when they set up the brackets.

Any info on the tourney last weekend in Hot Springs. We would have liked to play but no other AA 60's signed up and we did not want to play AAA or AA 55's.
