Discussion: Aurora 55 AAA

I was born and raised in Boston. In the Jamaica Plain, Columbia Point, Blue Hill Ave areas. Left 25 yrs ago never looked back. Get to play baseball and softball all year. I do miss seeing my Red Sox.

You would think with the cooler weather and I heard awesome complex people would go. Especially those from areas like mine in southern NM over 100 degrees for past 3 weeks

Discussion: Looking up past tourney attendance & results

I know we are able to find results of past World Championships. I was wondering if there is a way to find out about participating teams and results of other Ring Tourneys. The reason for this question is it would help players and coaches decide if a particular tourney was worth going to, based on past participation. On many occasions there may not be enough teams in your age and division participating.

Discussion: Pay to play a quality tournament

It appears this tourney is a non-qualifier. This is the reason I don't play non-qualifiers in Az anymore. They play 3 pool games and a single elimination on Sunday. Who needs 3 practice/warm-up games. Especially, if you only have 10-12 players and your team is older. Alot of these tourneys don't announce the format until you arrive and it's to late to cancel anything.

Congrats to Oxnard Rookies and So Cal Braves. We (NM Outlaws) have played Braves 6 times between Winter Worlds and Spring Worlds. They are a great bunch of guys for Californians. lol Never got to play the Rookies but they sure seem to have fun playing the game. All the teams we have played to date have been competitive and good guys. See the Braves in Vegas and have a safe trip there.

Discussion: Phoenix Winter Worlds

Same goes for me. The grounds crew at Cesar Chavez Park were the BOMB. They kept the infield amazingly smooth and safe. The umpires we had also did a great job. Never made the game about them. Great job all-around. I have always prefered playing in Phoenix over Vegas due to the facilities and ground crews. Vegas is a great vacation spot but who has time with all the games you have to play.

Discussion: Who won 55 Major and 55 AAA in Phoenix??

I played LC for Outlaws vs Sidewinders. I would like to congratulate the Sidewinders on their victory in the 55AAA division. They played hard with class and character all 3 games we played them. I would also like to compliment all the other teams we played for their overall class and hard fought games. We played the California Braves 3 times and each game was hard fought with zero issues. This is the way senior ball is supposed to be played. Play hard. play to win but with maturity, class and character. It was a pleasure competing against you as well as, meeting and talking with some you. Hope everyone got home safely and have a Happy Thanksgiving.
Maybe see you in Vegas in April.

Discussion: VEGAS FIELDS

Arroyo grande gets my vote as best field. I do agree with K9er about Phoenix. Not the party/entertainment destination Vegas is but the fields are much betr as a whole. I don't remember Phoenix not leting us use fields due to league play.

Discussion: Lost Bat

I was at the Pinetop Tourney this past weekend and a teammate of mine left his bat in the dugout. He just bought it on Friday and come Saturday left forgot it. We were in the first base dugout on the West field. We played the 5:00 game Sat. Evening and there was a 6:15 game after ours. The bat is a 28oz bal. Dudley only 20 or so swings. My teammate is new to senior ball so Ivrold him I would send out this message. I would hate to think seniors would keep a bat they found in a dugout. So if u accedently picked it up contact me at 575-805-3454 I will pay shipping. Our team name is the NM Boomers 60

Discussion: Shoulder Pain

Gentlemen, I could use some input on treating an aching shoulder. I am trying to avoid another shoulder surgery. This is my right shoulder (throwing arm). here is some background info. I have had a mumford procedure on this shoulder 11 yrs ago. Also had right elbow surgery to remove dead muscle some 8 yrs ago. I have been playing approx. 170-200 games per yr between senior and u-trip for the past 10 years. I do play outfield. I currently weightlift 4-5 days per week (down to 2-3 since shoulder trouble)and take bp 2 days per week. Currently, I do exercises with bands, take ibuprophen, use ice and electric stimulation. The weightlifting is currently mainly arms and legs, no shoulder work. The treatment tends to make the shoulder feel better overall. But, the minute I put a ball in my hand an attempt to throw the pain shoots threw my shoulder. It doesn't do that when I simulate throwing w/o a ball it doesn't hurt. This has been going on for 2 months now. My wife seems to think that my job as a personal trainer is a major cause. I demonstrate various exercises and do approx. 400 reps per day for the past 9 mths may be the cause. As all you maried guys know the Mrs. is probably correct.
Luckily the arm workouts have helped so I can still lift a 22 oz Applebees beer.
Any ideas or input would be helpful and greatly appreciated.

Discussion: courtesy runners

I see being a courtesy runner almost as a punishment for being in shape. I can only speak for myself and my experiences in senior ball. My comments may offend some but we are here to give are opinions so here goes. I have been in tourneys where I could barely walk after playing OF, running for myself then running for others. On many occasions I would get on base score from 1st or second then run for the guy that got the base hit to score me. I have also seen players jog to first on balls, they may have been able to get to second. basically not exerting any effort since they know they can get a runner. Many of the players we run for are catchers, pitchers, first basemen. Positions where you very seldom have to move a lot. This running also affects the runners ability to perform in the field and at bat later in a tourney. If you have coaches that base everything on BA or OBP Many of the courtesy runners can be left off All-Tourney teams since their BA & OBP fall as fatigue sets in. With that said I understand people want to play and may be physically unable to run. I also understand players have and are coming back from a surgery and want to play. Some guys come back too early knowing they can have a runner instead of waiting for a full recovery. The injury situation is different. Things happen in the course of a game pulled muscles, cramps etc. different situation than aforementioned. I have had 7 surgeries in the past 10 yrs and know how hard it is to want to come back and play. But, something does have to change.
