Discussion: Tough Glove update

We just had a great experience playing in the Southwest Championships. As a manager, it was exciting, nerve wracking, frustrating , rewarding and educational. I made more than a few managerial mistakes as a newbie but the team overcame my deficiencies to compete in game after game. A 3-0 start in bracket play against some very tough competition. We were competitive in every game in bracket play, even the losses were down to the last batter. If I had told you how undermanned defensively we were in key positions at this tourney with some hurt players out, you would have bet you house that we ended 0-5. The offense is for real and once we plug up some holes, I am confident that we will make it hard on any team trying to get through us. Winning these kinds of tournaments takes as much intestinal fortitude as it does talent and we showed what we are made of. We can’t wait for the next challenge. Tough Glove

I know that what I am about to ask for is like selling my beat up dodge truck with 4 bald tires and the neighbor kids just poured sugar in the tank. Also, it’s the last non electric vehicle on the planet and OPEC has put us on their no selling list and our reserves are entirely depleted. Yeah, you get it. I am a manager of a 60AAA team out of California called Tough Glove and we need an outfielder and a middle infielder for the upcoming Southwest Championships. If you are playing 65’s during the weekdays before our weekend tourney and are interested in joining up with us for this tourney only for extra at bats or beyond, please contact Mike Rubino at 714 321-8991. We have extra uniforms and you won’t have to pay a dime for tournament fees and your meals while with the team are on us. Hope to hear from you. Dan Fallon

60 AAA team out of Southern California looking for athletic shortstop to add to our team. I know you are out there. Fully sponsored team. ( uniforms, hats, tournament fees, team awards) We are looking for committed players who are not planning on playing for multiple teams in multiple divisions. This is probably the only AAA team out there that is sponsored. Looking forward to hearing from you. Please contact Dan 714 290-5702 or Mike 714 321-8991.

Tough Glove update: Our team is about to become fully sponsored which means jerseys, hats and tournament fees will be covered. That level of commitment to the team allows us to be selective in who we add to the team. If you are an above average fielder, hitter and softball IQ player, the door is open to welcome you to our team. The only reason that we are still searching is because we know what will make us better. We hope to hear from you. Dan Fallon 714 290-5702 or Mike Rubino 714 321-8991

I want to thank everyone who touched base and showed interest in playing on the team. As of now , the roster is full but the roster at the end of the season rarely matches the one at the beginning, so if you are still interested, reach out to myself or Mike and we will see if there is an opening. Good luck and stay healthy this season. Dan

Hi. I am managing a new 60 AAA team out of the Orange County/ LA/ Inland empire area. We are looking for AAA or Major players that are looking for a new team. We will be at least partially sponsored so it is a great opportunity. We have weekly batting practice in Irvine on Saturday mornings. We are planning on playing all TOC and world events and also some local tournaments. Ideally, we would like to limit our roster to 16-17 healthy players. Infield and outfield positions available. There is already a core group of players on this team so we are looking to add your unique skills and intangibles to the core. We expect to start the season next Month and hit the ground running as a competitive AAA team. If interested, leave me a message with your contact information, availability, age and tournament status ( AAA, Major, etc.)Thanks for your interest. Dan

Okay, I have officially gone round the bend. I am committed to forming a new team. Preferably a 55 triple A team but that is negotiable as the team rounds into form. This is a FULLY sponsored team. All tournament fees, uniforms, and miscellaneous other fees as determined by the manager, aka me, will be 100 percent covered. Now that I have your attention, this is what I am looking for.
1 Team players committed to the single goal of winning every single tournament that we enter and are relatively egoless and can accept whatever field position that I feel you can help the team out most and whatever part of the order you can help keep the lineup turning.
2. Mostly local California players that can get together for practices/batting practice and spend time bonding with other teammates and let me see what you are capable of.
3. If you know me, I have a reputation of being intense, sometimes to my embarrassment. I consider myself a team player and will support all of you on the team through good or bad. I am a communicator so if there needs to be a discussion or change, I will make it.
4. No prima donnas allowed. If you think you are better than everyone else and know more than everyone else, feel free to find another team. I have a lot of experience with prima donnas, including the one that looks back at me in the mirror. It is not conducive to chemistry.
5. Everyone comes ready to play at the time the team designates. No late stragglers showing up at game time and wondering why they arent leading off. No drinking during games. If I need a third base coach, you are ready to run out there and are not in the middle of a discussion with a teammate about last nights WWF cage match.
6.We will have fun. I am a fun person with a good sense of humor. It wont be all seriousness and no lighthearted banter. I can dish it out more than I can take it but hopefully I can learn to take it more.
7. We have time to put this thing together. I am looking at Spring worlds in March, Southwest Championship in April, So cal state championship(TOC), Western National Championship and World Championships. And any other local tournaments that we elect to play in.
8. If interested, email me with a little information about yourself, including shirt size and hat size. If you are confident, which I hope that you all are, I want to hear you tell me what your strengths are.
9. The team name as of this moment will be TOUGH GLOVE. Obvious play on words but there will be an emphasis on defense. Good defense kills rallies. We all get caught up in trying to outhit the other team but many times, that just doesnt happen for a variety of reasons. Defense usually always shows up. Thanks for your interest and I am looking forward to this challenge. Dan. MRDJF@HOTMAIL.COM 714 290-5702

I may be in a moment of delusional euphoria so you may want to respond before I wake up tomorrow. Even though I am still open to playing with another team, i might be willing to start a new 60 major or even triple A team and sponsor all tournament fees for starters. Anyone not currently on a roster or feeling like they might want to make a change and are ready to stay focused for a season in which none of us know how many more there will be for us, send me a note and let me know that you are interested. If you know me, you know that I am a very intense athlete but have always felt like I am a team player. I will be fair, direct, not expect anything out of anyone that I wouldnt set the example for, and I am a fun guy but winning makes me a funner guy. If you like to play a set position and you are the player on the team that helps us the most at that position, you will stay there all season. Continuity is as important as chemistry. All the outfielders should know how the player on their left and right goes after a ball and it doesnt matter who catches the ball, as long as there is communication. This could be a great opportunity or it could be a massive train wreck. I will take responsibility for the latter and we will all share the success of the former. I look forward to hearing from you and even taking suggestions for a new team name. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Dan. 714 290-5702 MRDJF@HOTMAIL.COM

Hi. I am a 62 year old player in so cal looking for a new team to play on. I can play well above average outfield, above average infielder and I am the best fielding pitcher that I have ever seen. I am committed and looking for a team that has one goal in mind. To win every tournament that they enter. I am also willing to form a partnership with anyone who would like to sponsor or partly sponsor a team. I look forward to hearing from you

I am a 59 year old player currently playing majors in southern california. I am looking to join either a 55 major team or 60 major plus team. I just had arthroscopic surgery on my right shoulder to remove scar tissue to enable me to be able to resume throwing hard again. I had a great throwing arm before surgery and I expect to regain that arm strength again. I consider myself a very good player who is versatile and always gives 100 percent. I am more than willing to go through a try out

I am interested in playing either 55 AAA or major or 60 AAA or major. I am fully prepared to try out for any team that is interested. Thanks
