Discussion: Bat weight

Big Cat at 208-210 Lbs I consider my self a power hitter, however, any weight other than a 26oz, slows me down and therefore i do not have the confidence and bat speed to finish my swing through the zone. A balance bat is ideal for me. My question to you is 1. If bats are changing through the years, and my swing speed stays the same or decline because of age can I somehow test my speed and choose a bat, before i buy it to assure it he right one for me. The white Centenarian was and is my bat of chose. It say El on bat but it feel like it balance. You thought on a bat that is comparable to it. I was taught the size vs. bat speed each distance it still works. I may be reaching at staws. Just wanted a few comments.End load Vs Balance. Bat speed vs. Comfortability.

Discussion: Major Plus

Am I really a Major Plus player or am I a part of a team that happens to play in that division. Now i,m not playing because that division is getting smaller and smaller. I have spent most of my life playing a sport and now you are telling me that because of the business aspect of the game that (Sacrifice a few for the many applys. Cant play AAA. If more than 3 so call Major plus players on a Major team, then that team is not leagal. I understand some of that but, Age takes care of a lot of thing such as declining talent. Just because I played the game at that level for years who is to say I still effect a game in that manner. The long ball has been capped so why not let them play. Get real. We pay top dollar for bats that improve your ability and now that works against you. There are very few A, AA teams in young softball. Where are those players going?

Discussion: Texas State Championships - How were the fields and other Facilities?

The feilds were better than the first time, i understand they changed the field surface. They watered between games which made it better. I played in the 50 major division, the competiton was great. The weather on saturday was as hot as i can ever remember playing this time of year. I think it was 105, but nerve the less it was a great time, and we had air condition up front in the club home between games. The tournament ran a litte long Sunday if you played in a if game, but other than that. I would say it was good over all. (4 games in on day was a challenge).

Discussion: Number 2 hitter

If the lead off hitter is important, what about the number two hitter. The lead off hitter is not known for power, so the guy behind him can jump start the offense by putting runs on the board with a quick blast or extra base, or keeping it going for the next batter in the order. In senior ball it is important to score early. Your thoughs. I,ve seem some great number two hitters in the game.

Discussion: Update from USSSA National Convention

The Middle of the field is like any other part of the field. If you place a net during tournament play, you have reduced the game. I do understand about the safety part of the game, but most picthers can wear protective gear on let,s play on. I don,t hink this will help attract more senior teams. I think you should take the game to the people. I,ll been playing senior ball for eight years, and i have never had a USSSSA tournament my back door. I know it takes work to get this done. 6 hr,s drive time verses, leaving on thursday and returning on sunday night. This may attract more teams. i guess the pool games or neccessary for seating, but take a survey and see what the players want. It,s senior ball.

Discussion: 55 major plus in vegas

I had a chance to play in this tournament, and it was the most competitive tournament of the year. There was lot,s of offense, but that was a lot of great defensive plays, that were game changers. One thing I can say is (12 HR,s, One up and a single) gave the players a mine set of free swinging and that make the game at this level enjoyable. Congratulations to all the teams.
