Discussion: New rule on shaved bats

As a member of the Weakend Warriors team mentioned in Terry Henessey’s article, I looked up the “new” rule. To punish the whole team or the manager for the actions of one player is not fair. As stated in the article it is impossible to tell if a bat has been altered. All of the WW were aware of the rule and we had no idea nor suspicion that a player was using a shaved bat. As it stands, our manager was suspended for 4 months based on his appeal. Even after the rules committee ruled that the manager should not be singled out, he still was.
Perhaps a better, more persuasive rule, would be to ban the offending player who knowingly cheated and selfishly endangered opposing players, be banned for life with no appeal. If he was using a “borrowed “ bat, the proper owner should also be banned for life. The illegal action was totally controlled the offending player period.

Discussion: Shaved Bat

Banning the cheater is a no brainer. Suspending the entire team is totally out of line. How are they supposed to know? To say that all the teammates know who is using a shaved bat is ridiculous! Suspending the manager should only happen if it can be proven that he/she knew about it.

Discussion: Costs to play in Senior Southwest Championship

The added cost to playing at at BLD facility is a possibility that everyone is aware of when playing in tournaments in Vegas. If the added costs upset you, quit complaining and make it simple. Don't play in Vegas. There is no winning. We have had to play at Shadow Rock and Hollywood for the last 5 years in a row. All I ever here is when is it going to be our turn to play at BLD. Can win

An interesting argument. I see both sides but would agree that if I had to argue for that out when there was no play then I am out there for the wrong reasons. You won't find a more competitive or intense player than me but if I am beat, I am beat. Question - did you score 5 runs every inning or did you leave runs out there? Very rarely does one play beat you. The play you describe just happens to be the last play. I would bet that the opportunities were there. Your argument sounds more like frustration, which I also understand.

Discussion: players numbers

I am a new manager. What do the letters "SCA" that come after the player's number stand for? I have 4 players with those letters after their numbers. We are all rated AAA players.

Discussion: Ruling clarification

my experience with this rule has been with players running up to hit the ball. However, it is rarely called as most umpires that I have had the pleasure experience don't know how far the box goes in front of the plate or simply ignores where the batter is stepping as there is rarely a line showing the front of the batter's box.

To BallPlayers35 some pitches are unhittable in a lot of situations. Change your swing for a great pitch against you.
