Discussion: Commitment line on a tag up.

Of course all of this is predicated on what the umpire saw. If the 2B runner was already past the commitment line it should be he was an obvious out because he never made it back to 2B when the shortstop touched the bag. There would then have to be an assumption of the runner at first tagging up. If the umpire is looking at the catch he would then have to look at the 1B runner for the tag up since the 2B runner took himself completely out of the play. The only argument would be from either team on the tag/no tag which the umpire would then have to determine DP or TP.

Discussion: Possibility of a DH?

I know slow pitch softball is a game based on offense ( not solely though).
I wonder if a DH rule has ever been considered.
There are some teams that try to hide a less than stellar hitter at the bottom of the order, what if that hitter can remain a benefit on defense but be replaced by a more competent hitter on offense?
I know I'll receive blow back from traditionalists (See National League until this year)but why not???

Why would it be a stern warning to the batter and not the on deck hitter?

I ended up going with Rover Plus Nine out of Texas.
I worked with Phil and he did a great job with communication, artwork, follow up, etc.
Two week lead time plus shipping, two thumbs up.

Any secret in getting in touch with this company,
I've been trying since last week with no response.
Plus I tried their online design options and it's not very user friendly.

Western Nationals moved from Sacramento to Phoenix? Pass. Go from 98 to 115 degrees? I don't think so.

Dave I have not been able to find the rules page for Worlds player consideration.
Could you possibly do a cut and past?
Thanks.

Discussion: Batting Order Advice

To quote a wise man who once said about managing, "this job doesn't pay very well".
Unless your team is sponsored then everyone normally has to pay their own way, I try to use the equal pay, equal pay approach when making line ups for tournaments.
We keep batting averages for the seeding games and beyond, everyone hits, then decisions are made on who plays and sits during bracket games.
Top hitters go at the top of the line up to get the best advantage to get the five run first inning as much as possible and get more at bats after that.
It's a guessing game because no one has the crystal ball and after all the hopes and wishes of the manager it's still up to the players to perform.
Looking at the Western Nationals, the winner of the 60AAA division scored an average of 15 runs per game, that is just a tick above 2 runs per inning.
Emphasis is put upon scoring in SS but so many other factors go into play that determine winning and losing on a game basis and tournament basis.
Brian Sabean, the general manager of the S.F. Giants after they won the 2010 World Series had a quote that said. "you don't pick the time, the time picks you".
Good luck in Worlds everyone, stay healthy, be safe, and who knows, the time may pick you.

Discussion: Grounds Crew

Dave knowing that I don't miss an opportunity to bring field related issues to your attention here's another one:
Western Nationals Maidu Complex
we are embroiled in a dog fight of a game that started at 6;30 p.m.
Top of open inning and it's getting dark, opponent is still scoring and Umpire in chief says the lights are not coming on and we have to resume the game at 7:a.m.next morning. Much mayhem ensues with why? Where's the lights? UIC says the site supervisor was supposed to have the lights on at 7;30, mayhem resumes, UIC says stop play, more mayhem, UIC says finish the game, we do under the near cover of night.
Obviously SSUSA is not responsible but the City of Roseville (which by the way the field director was attempted to be reached to no avail).
Sorry scenario obviously, only future solution, 1. Every team bring a roll of quarters for the lights, 2.Everyone can pull their cars around the field with their lights on so the game can be finished. Insert smiley face here.

Chief you cannot be picked up by a team for Vegas unless a certain team falls below 10 players. All rosters for Vegas World or National tournaments are locked and only players who played in qualifiers are eligible for said tournaments.

Discussion: How to call a tag play when view is obstructed

Franjan if you were a witness for the prosecution in a criminal trial the defense attorney would eat you for lunch.
You cannot make that call on what you thought but on what you actually saw.

Discussion: Dont blame SSUSA for the ball problem.

My earlier post on this subject in another thread fell upon deaf ears so hear I go again.
Is BSN the only supplier of the Stote ball?
Can the argument be eliminated by sourcing this ball from other distributors?
If I can't get Charmin toilet paper from Costco do I go with an inferior item or do I just go to Walmart?

Franjan do those shorts come with a lanyard and coaches whistle?
That would really complete the ensemble along with striped white calf socks.
