Discussion: Stepping out of the front of the box?

Part of the problem is the inconsistency with the umpires. Those of us who played 55M at Sunset had lousy NSA umpires who basically told us they weren't going to call out of the box unless it was "blatant". While I'm sure at BLD or other parks, it was being enforced.

There are Flag Day tourneys on June 12th and June 14th, but I am fairly sure they are at Lorenzi from 7:30AM to 1:00PM.

Kudos to SSUSA for keeping all the brackets and scores updated! We all complain a lot about the lack of updates and it is very appreciated that the Spring Worlds was kept up to date and we have all the scores and brackets complete! Thanks!

Idaho - really? "How" you win should not be a factor. If Enviro-Vac did not get bumped up - at least temporarily, then that is NOT how SSUSA normally does it. There have been many teams win at the major level that way, get bumped up to +, lose, then get moved back down. It is the correct thing to do. My friends on The Core would have loved the same treatment last year.

Gonedeep - 2 complexes but 14 possible fields..... still you would think at the least a list of teams would have been published by now....

Go here:

Under "Program" select Men's Masters. Then you can also choose what State and/or date range.

FYI - they are mostly in CA or TX

Discussion: Curious End of Year Re-Rating

It is interesting that Elmwood Sports Center finished 2nd in 50M @ the WMC, was bumped to M+, complained heavily that the team that beat them in the championship should have been M+, and now there moved BACK to 50M? Perhaps their roster changed? Guys moved to 55?

Couldn't agree more with Crusher. At the least, the CR should not be allowed for any runner after they reach second base - after only reaching 1st safely. Once they have advanced from initially being on first, there should be no CR for that player - excluding injury of course. I wouldn't mind if we adopted a rule as Crusher noted that the CR must enter before the 1st pitch to the next batter.

FYI - if you click on the ratings and the age group you want to know, the ratings changes are there. As an example, the top 4 finishers in 50M were bumped to M+

Discussion: Is it fair?

In reality - no, not fair. The hypothetical team you describe would dominate a 50M tournament, but it would be acceptable technically for you guys to do that, and since 55's and 50's are different weekends, you could win two rings!

Here is the potential problem I face. My team will most certainly be bumped to 50M+ after last weekend. I am 55 eligible starting in November. The R/I for 50M+ is 9. 55M+ is 8. SSUSA says they only rate teams not individuals, but if I decided to only play 55's, would I be a 9 or an 8. If I am a 9, then they do rate players and I could only play 55M+ since 55M is a 7. I would assume that if I play both, then I would carry the 9 and I am ok with that. FYI - I have e-mailed SSUSA and asked, but have not gotten a response. I'm sure that will come next week when the WMC is officially over.

Any thought that for M+ only, the 50's should be one group and not split at 55? Then your thought on the same rating would be correct, which I agree with.

Discussion: WHY DID YOU ALL PUT THE WOMEN TEAMS AT HOLLYWOOD PARK?

Infielder,

I take exception to your remarks regarding our city. Just a quick Google on crime rates shows that Houston has a crime index of 5 and Las Vegas 11. Neither is good by any means, but your comparison falls woefully short when trying to put down our city. We have issues, yes. For myself, I lived in Houston and I much prefer here. If it's that bad, then it would be ok for the number of teams coming to Vegas - a record number I believe - to fall to 611 from 612.

Ms Dee and Infielder:

Definitely echo Benji's comments. It only one day!

I live in Henderson which is pretty far from Hollywood or Shadow Rock. The Friday of the 55's, I left my house - near Green Valley Ranch Casino - at 7:15 and arrived at Shadow Rock via the 95 at 7:45. Saturday morning was even quicker. Hollywood would have been about 5-10 minutes less. Not sure I understand why it's a big deal. I drive to BLD twice a week just for league!

Discussion: Tournament seedings

Also remember that in this tournament, the #1 seed is determined solely on the USA Championship game. That probably adds a little time for the TD to sort out the seedings properly, especially when there are two - or more as with the 50AAA - when the loser of that game is also a #1 seed. Sometimes, probably rare, but sometimes an 0-2 team could be a #1 seed.
