Feb. 14, 2017 JimmyRedSox | Topic: Bats Discussion: REPAIRING BROKEN BATS Bill, Many thanks. I will use it for batting practice. |
Feb. 13, 2017 JimmyRedSox | Topic: Bats Discussion: REPAIRING BROKEN BATS I have broken two Miken bats in the past year. The breaks are hard to find but consist of a hairline crack around the circumference near the end of the bat. Has anybody have success in repairing a Miken bat using say high strength epoxy or Liquid Steel? If so did you find the bat completely restored? That is, you were successful in obtaining solid hits and distances that you experienced after the bat was "broken-in"? Perhaps the inner wall could be broken as well whereby repairing the outside shell won't be a successful repair. Thank you. |
Oct. 26, 2016 JimmyRedSox | Topic: Bats Discussion: Miken Ultra II vs Dudley Lightning lb16 - thanks for your message. My Big Cat was a 2016. (;-(( I still haven't given up and plan to "plead my cae" again to Miken. Maybe they will replace it at no cost but shipping. We'll see. I still haven't heard much about the comparison between Dudleys and Miken Ultra II's. My coach tells me "there's nothing like a Miken Ultra II." |
Oct. 21, 2016 JimmyRedSox | Topic: Bats Discussion: Miken Ultra II vs Dudley Lightning Bad news....my Miken Big Cat, end-loaded, which I purchased for $200 in March broke this past week. I hadn't had 500 batted balls. I sent the bat back to Miken explaining the situation. They called me today. "Sorry, nothing we can do for you." Sheesh. So now I'm considering switching to Dudley. I've been told they are as good as Miken Ultra's and don't break. I'd appreciate your feedback. Thanks. |
March 15, 2016 JimmyRedSox | Topic: Bats Discussion: Endload? I have a new Miken Ultra II end-load, SSUSA 2-piece Big Cat. Will it require a break-in? If so, about how many batted balls will be required to start experiencing some distance to fly balls? |
June 18, 2015 JimmyRedSox | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: ARC OF THE PITCHED BALL SUSA Rule 6.3. The height of a legal pitch must be from 6' to 12' above the playing surface. SUSA Rule 6.14. Illegal pitch. The umpire should call an illegal pitch when the ball is at its highest point less than 6' or over 12' above the playing surface. The rule does not specify if an illegal pitch is called a ball or no pitch at all. Question: Is an illegal pitch called a ball? |
June 18, 2015 JimmyRedSox | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: BATTER'S BOX SUSA rule 1.5. The batter's box is the 3' X 7' area to which the batter is restricted. The lines are considered as being within the batter's box. At least some portion of both feet of the batter must be on the line or within the batter's box. Questions: What is the official ruling if a batter's foot or feet are outside of the batter's box? Is he/she out? Assuming the umpire provides the batter a warning and he/she still is outside of the batter's box when the pitch is delivered what should the umpire do? |
June 18, 2015 JimmyRedSox | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: INFIELD FLY RULE SUSA Rule 1.41. Infield Fly. A fair ball (not including a line drive) that can be caught by any fielder with ordinary effort when 1st and 2nd bases ior 1st, 2nd and 3rd bases are occupied with less than two outs. Any fielder can catch an infield fly. (Note: there is no stipulation about an infielder going onto the outfield grass to make the catch). Question: The issue often arises when an infielder goes onto the outfield grass to catch a fly ball with runners on 1st and 2nd or when the bases are loaded, and fewer than 2 outs. Does the Infield Fly Rule apply and the batter is out, and runners' advance at their own risk? |
