I'm with ya Einstein.
If you need an ally you got one with me.
Terry needs to come out and address these issues we all are concerned about.
In the 60's there was a song called
"Silence is Golden ".

We don't need that now...the economy sucks and people will be attracted to Tournaments that are close and have player friendly HR limits.

Peace

Einstein,
Thanks for your support regarding home runs should never be outs...I could go on and on on this subject.
Terry has made a mistake regarding this issue and no one would think lees of him if he changed his mind.
Frankly he would be respected for making a change that would be in the best interests for the senior game.
We share the same opinions on the state of senior softball and I hope we get a chance to talk at a tourney this summer.
Keep the faith...

They should NEVER be outs.

Singles or Walks are OK.

I have read all posts and now have one of those headaches you get when you eat ice cream too fast.
Keep the bats and the balls the same, don't make Homeruns outs(to protect the pitchers)and let's have some fun.
Senior Softball is a vibrant and fun game. When it ceases to become that,we will see the decline that is evident with the younger players.

Add ron@bobblebabes.com to your
50 Major Plus list.
He is the man behind the Ploog / Kevitt team from
Minnesota and is as interested as y'all
are about making sure that when you spend the money to go to a tournament
there are more than 4 major plus teams there.

Wagon 487:
With all due respect,I cannot disagre with you more.
At our age (50+) a Homerun should be one of 2 things, a homerun or a single.
The notion that a Senior Player hitting a ball over the fence is a bad thing makes no sense to me.
I am starting my 6th year of playing Senior Softball and I am so thankful I don't have to play against the young kids that don't appreciate/respect the game like we all do. I live in the north and on Tuesdays and Thursdays we play indoors at a dome. It is a great time with lots of comraderie and mutual respect. We put a screen in front of the pitcher and have at it. We use senior bats, swing away and have a great time. Balls are bouncing off ther roof, and skipping through the astroturf. It can be a little dicey at times but it keeps you on your toes.I feel fortunate at 55 to still be able to play the game. All of the guys I played ball with in I suck at golf. However,I have made a lot of good new friends that share my passion for softball and that has been a very rewarding experience.
Bottom Line:
LET THE HOMERUNS COUNT...DON'T LET THEM BE OUTS!!!!!!!

How about Plano / DFW area ???

I agree that it should be held somewhere centrally located to make sure that the most teams have an opportunity to play.

When it comes to the Fall tournaments, what is wrong with
going back to the PLANO/DFW area.

It's easy to get to from most anywhere, and you can be
certain of good weather.

Discussion: New Team for 2009

We are looking at the possibility of combining
50 Major Plus players that are turning 55 in 2009 with
existing 55 Major players.

By SSUSA (and SPA) rules ,what would we be classified in 2009, 55 Major or 55 Major Plus ?

Does our classification hinge on how many 50 Major Plus
players we add or since you are moving up an age class do
you start from scratch and pick your classification.

We would like to play 55 Major...

Anything you can tell me regarding rules, etc. will be appreciated.

I got one a while ago but only started to put some swings on it last weekend.

Bat is very stiff right now and you can reaaly feel the end load which I like

Will take more cuts and let others take more cuts this weekend in the hopes of loosening her up.

Hope to have it ready by Phoenix.

I got a feeling this is gonna be a good bat

BEAT UP ON 50 MAJOR PLUS TEAMS YOU SAY!

HAVING THE CHOICE(50 VS 55) OF HAVING 11 FIELDERS OR EXTRA RUNS IS REALLY CLOSE TO INSANITY...

This whole Senior Softball program needs to be
overhauled soon.

$675 to play in a Tournament plus travel expenses is hard to take.

Sponsors willing to give $20K to bankroll a team don't exist any more.

I tried to run a 50 Major plus team last year and what was promised by sponsors did not come to fruition.

I learned the hard way...but never again

Discussion: HR shaggers?

IMHO...

Given the Entry Fees we pay:

$675 in KC and $550 in Phoenix for example.

I don't think it is right for teams to chase balls.

One of the fields in KC had water on the other side and there were balls in Phoenix that ended up in parking lots and in parks that we did not have access to.

I am in no way criticizing these complexes as I think these, Plano and Ft. Meyers/Naples are some of the best that Senior Teams have the priviledge to play on.

However, Senior Softball might want to approach someone like Dudley as being a partner.

I am not guaranteeing anything but it should be looked into and I may be able to help.

They don't chase balls at the Dudley Classic, Disney and other tournaments.

Granted, these are not Senior Tourneys but we represent a large group of playes that are just as committed(and probably more) to the game as we all are.

My thoughts /ideas are meant in the best interests of Senior Softball and are in no way intended to be negative.

I am just trying to make the game I enjoy better.
