My hat is off to Dave and his staff, for posting the Spring Worlds results to the message board so quickly and accurately. Thank you for those efforts from all of us who unfortunately could not attend. Dave, you're the Man!

I'd suggest you check out the tournament schedule for any tournament in your area. Go to the tourney and witness first hand the quality of play. There is a big difference in the abilities and speed of the game at all divisions within any age bracket (50+). Talk to the manager(s) of the team you might like to play with see if you can get a "look-see" tournament with that team. That allows both sides to be comfortable, you and the team. Or if you know anyone currently playing, give them a call.

Hey Top Gun Organization, here we are 2 weeks post tournament yet we (the players) don't have the results posted of your tourney. With all your teams, managers and directors, can't somebody in your organization send the results into SSUSA before we play the Rock n Reno tournament?

Discussion: Remarkable run

Playing against the Redwood City/NorCal Reds since we were both playing 55's, I can tell personally tell you these guys just don't quit. More than a few times I thought my team had them done, as they were behind in the last inning, only for them to put together another rally and scratch out a 1 run victory. Hats off to our NorCal neighbors, what a great team wide effort!

PS Thanks to Dave Dowell for running a "tight ship" at BLD during the week. Its always a relief when Dave is the Tourney Director knowing how much he does for the program and how he handles the tournament.

Even if you do find a team that is fully sponsored, you need not apply for a position. Play some tournament ball and if your good enough they will find you!

Discussion: Hip replacement

grayhitter59 - like you I am right handed and hit right handed and as such the "torque" is on my right hip as I rotate my right hip towards the pitcher during my swing. This left hip was the replaced hip as I said in my original response.

I'm a line drive hitter with occasional power. By rotating my right hip towards the pitcher as I swing gives me what power I do have.

And by all means, listen to your doctor and don't short cut it. Both my physical therapist and surgeon have given me the green light to do all normal activities and by next month I'll be back on the ballfields. Good luck with your efforts.

Discussion: Hip replacement

Wayne: There will not be any additional hip replacements for me. If additional surgery becomes a necessity, I will be become a player needing a "runner" like a large portion of 65+ players going forward. My days of running for everyone are over with or without additional surgery.

Discussion: Hip replacement

grayhitter59, I am 66 yrs old and play on the R & R 65s Major team and I am 7 weeks and 3 days post total left hip replacement (9/11/19). Yesterday My surgeon discharged me for every normal activity EXCEPT for running, (jogging is ok, just no full running yet). Today I took BP for the 3rd weekend in a row. I will be able to play with my team mates after this month (about 10 weeks post surgery)and look forward to it. Not sure why your recovery is so much longer. All surgeons and surgeries are different, but if you do your physical therapy diligently you will cut your recovery time big time. Good luck with your recovery

Discussion: Vegas AAA

On behalf of my team, the Base Hawgs 50's, we appreciate the compliments. We have a great bunch of team players that play hard and respect our competition. Finishing 3rd behind the winning Rochester team and the runner-up Pinnacle team was a good accomplishment for us. We enjoyed the competition and would welcome the opportunity to play either team when rested. Having to play 9 games during the tournament to emerge from the losers bracket was a disadvantage we couldn't quite overcome. Even still a 1-run loss in the winners bracket and a 2-run loss in the losers bracket final shows just how close the games were. I hope to see you guys in future tourneys. Louie #22 Base Hawgs, mgr
