Discussion: Knee replacement thoughts

John: yes my full swing is back, you can start ding some rehab now, lift weights and ride a bike, to get the area around the knee stronger. I did tell the doctor I was going to play softball, that was ok with him, he told me no sliding or diving. The first doctor I had said no way cold I play again. My wife sent me to a sports doctor to said it was ok. Try to start riding a bike as soon as you can after replacement. Everyone is different some heal faster and some slower. Good Luck

Discussion: Knee replacement thoughts

john: I had my left knee replaced last Nov 17th, I started playing in April on our thurs travel league, I had a runner from home plate and I caught, started running to first on my own about June, I think it was more like a fast trot, I still havent run full out, hitting started slow I could hit 300' before and my power took a while to come back, my leg felt like it was in the way when I took my swing. My power is back now. Go slow everyone is different. I think it takes about a year. I was bone on bone and that pain is gone, I really had a rough time walking before the replacement. Sorry about the log post and good luck with replacement

Murray, the first 2-3 months were better for me also, the progress is very slow, I play on a thurs league 2 games, I catch the bending is very helpful for me. The 6 month mark will make a big difference for you, it was for me. Last week I could only get about 200 feet, today I hit one to the fence at 310' on 2 short hops, it is better than bone on bone

Good luck to you also keep working, some day we will play again

MurryW : thanks I looked up the site you gave me and it was very helpful. I only take advil for the pain maybe 1 to 2 times a day. When I did my knee I looked up all the things about the surgery so I knew what they were going to do to my knee, I should have looked more at the rehab and also what I could have done before to make it easier to get back.
Thanks for the help,

I know we just had a discussion on total knee replacment, but I hope someone can help me with some answers.
I had my knee done 3 months and 1 week ago, I have a lot of pain in the tendons and ligaments surrounding the knee no pain in the joint anymore. I exercise one time a day lots of bending and stretching I ride the bike in the moring 20 min and eveing 20 min the pain is a lot less after exercising. My doctor says the pain is normal. How long will it last? Thanks for any help you have to offer

Mark well said, people stopped comming because there is only one field with a fence and the fields are back to back, and the ball was bad, I think they lost a few teams because of the balls this weekend,

Joe: the ball we used we use in antioch was the worst ball I have ever seen, we played in the 60 division with some good teams and good hitters, the best ball I saw hit on Sunday in the heat was about 150' game scores were all under 11. Good balls are a must.I would not play if we ever go to a ball like this. Hey did you break John's window?

I had this problem and use marine glue, cap stayed on until bat broke, you will need to wait 7 days to use the bat,

joe is the only one who stands up for the senoirs on this issue, if the ball makers and the td's have there way "no one" will be able to hit the ball over the fence, joe is only fighting for all of us
