Discussion: Female pursuing action to join all male league

Thanks for the responses. I appreciate hearing from you on this. We have in our by-laws and rules this is a men's league.

Discussion: Female pursuing action to join all male league

Just asking if anyone had to face a challenge where a female player wants to join an all male SS league? She is quoting the SSUSA rule book section stating females "may" play on male teams. Our league has been all male and she already plays on co-ed teams and in other leagues. Her husband plays in our league and she believes she in entitled to play with him. She is an accomplished player but our membership wishes to remain all men. Does she have any legal standing?

Discussion: Player touches batting mat after home run

In a game last week, the bases were loaded, two outs and the batter hits a grand slam over the fence home run. After the ball clears the fence, the runner on third ran home but touched the home plate mat, not the auxiliary plate. After lengthy discussion, it was decided the runner was out and no runs counted. I have issue with this. (I was not directly involved in this game but I am a board member of our league)

The question is, once the ball clears the field, it is a dead ball. So when the runner hit the strike mat, is he still out? The rule book states live ball involving the mat. And the book states this ball is now dead once it is out of the playing field. Also, the runners and batters are no longer required to run the bases, hit and sit rule.

I would like to hear what would be an official ruling on this. We have several board members in disagreement on this. Thanks
