Discussion: Loss of a California Player in St. George

I just returned home from St. George yesterday and had ten hours to think about the 12 days I was there. Thanks to all who visited my tent and stopped by to say hello.

While I was there, I heard sirens for what seemed a very long time. I looked around behind my tent and saw an ambulance parked. One of the California 70's had their left fielder collapse in the dugout of heart failure. The medical EMT's and firefighters worked on him for a long time but were not successful. It was a sad time and yet the manner in which many ball players wish to leave this world.

I was having a meal at a local restaurant and two of his teammates were at the next table discussing the event. Tony, their friend, was a rancher from Visalia and a dedicated senior ball player and good man. One of the men at the table told me a story about what what Tony had done for him some time back. It seems that Tony had a brand new senior bat and he let his teammate use it in a game. He did well with the bat and when the game was over, he brought it back to Tony and Tony said"Keep it". That was the generosity he had and he will be missed by those who knew him.

I never met Tony, but I wish I had known him.

Discussion: Zytiga/Prednizone

Evidently the zytiga has certain side affects and his doctor has prescribed prednisone to taper or offset the side affects. He missed Saturday night prednisone tablet and Sunday had splitting headache and high blood pressure. Anyone experience this scenario?

Is anyone out there familiar with or experienced with either of the meds above? If someone has used these and can perhaps address potential experience and/or side affects that may accompany them, it would be appreciated. A friend has asked me to inquire about this.
Thanks,

Discussion: 65M/65M+Player can help at Worlds

This is my last thread regarding this topic. I can absolutely be an asset to any team but I also realize that being in a remote mountain location away from the cities with senior athletes, out of sight, out of mind. Good luck to all in Vegas and hope to see some of you in St. George and in Florida this winter. Stop by my tent at Huntsman and take a look at our new Z-Bag Travel Roller bags.

Discussion: Need Help in Vegas?

This is my last thread regarding this topic. Living in a remote location in the mountains, it is tough to get on a quality SSUSA team. I can absolutely be an asset but I understand that not being in a populated area, out of sight, out of mind. Good luck to all in Vegas.
Be well,
Ed

65M/M+ player available if you need help at Worlds. Currently not on a SSUSA roster. Have played AA, M, & M+. Capable and an asset to the teams I have played with. Play outfield or 1st. Strong base hitter, good glove and speed in the field and on bases. Live in Colorado and Florida. Have updated cards and Florida snowbird card.
Thanks,
Ed

Discussion: Rocky Mountain Championships

I wanted to share my thanks to all the folks who visited our Adidas tent at the Aurora Rocky Mountain Championships. It was great to see old friends, old teammates and to interact with the SSUSA staff. It was a fun tournament with good weather, a great facility, friendly park staff and some excellent talent showed up to compete.

A special thanks to Terry, Don, Doug, Tom, George and Fran. You folks were on top of every aspect of the operation and you truly work hard to make a tournament a success.

A lot of folks had questions about our bats, travel bags and hitting tees among others so do not hesitate to call me with questions and requests. I will happily respond. See you in Vegas!

Discussion: Bruce Campion

I recently learned at the Rocky Mountain Championships in Aurora that our friend and teammate, Bruce Campion from the Salt Lake area, had passed. Bruce had battled cancer for a long period of time and tragically lost his battle.

I played with Bruce on the Utah Vets and he was one of finest men I've ever played ball with. He was a solid ball player and a genuine quality individual. It was an honor to know Bruce and to have played with him. We lost the championship game in the Worlds to Top Gun after playing 14 games.

I will miss him and if you knew Bruce and/or played with him, jump in here and speak your memories of this good man!
