Discussion: 2017 Adidas Melee 2

Kirk,

I am on my 2nd Dudley and although I think it is a great bat, I definitely think the Melee 2 is a better bat. The ball comes off it much better. As an FYI, my 2 Dudleys are 27oz Balanced and the Melee 2 is 26oz. EL. I've also hit the Miken Black (father's bat) but they tend to not be as durable.

The new Melee (Melee 12) should be out sometime in December and I will be picking one of those up in either 26 or 27oz EL. To be fair, I have not hit the new Dudley, either the Balanced or EL. I just love the way the call comes off the Adidas much better.

Good luck with your choice!

Discussion: 2017 Adidas Melee 2

Does anyone know when the 2017 Adidas Melee 2's will be available. I believe I read somewhere in a thread that Suncoast Adidas (Lee Trotter) mentioned they are testing them and that they would be available in Jan/Feb of 2017.

Any more info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks, Mark

Lefty... read the Dudley 2.0 thread. It has great feedback.

Alan,

I used to swing the 27oz balanced Dudley (still in bag and a great bat) but recently switched to the 27oz Melee 2 EL. I am thinking of picking up the new 27oz Dudley EL to add. I assume your references are all regarding the new Dudley EL and not the balanced?

Alan,

I was under the impression that the new Dudleys were the same bat just wrapped differently. If that is not the case, other then less swings to break them in, what other changes / improvements are there?

Thanks,

Mark

Discussion: 3N2 Shoes

#19... not sure what style of Boombah shoe you have but Boombah Customer Support strongly recommended I stay away from the Riots as they have been seeing a lot of issues with the soles separating from the tops. I replaced the Riot with another type and passed the replacement turf shoes on to a friend that doesn't play all the time.

Good point CAT. I don't have any experience with 3N2 Customer Service. I have worked with Boombah Customer Service and they replaced the shoe which I thought was great. I was still left with a 'flat tire' at a tourney and Adidas was my only, albeit a good one, option.

I've never worn the 3N2s but I haven't heard good things about them. My last 3 pairs have been Boombah turf shoes. I stay away from molded cleats since I play infield and they tend to hurt my feet after a few games. The last pair (Riot Fades) had the sole separate from the shoe after 4 months at a tourney so I went to the Adidas vendor.

I picked up a pair of Adidas Vigor Bounce Trail Runners (grey/onix/blue) for $70. Same shoe in various colors is available on Amazon for $61. Definitely better constructed shoe and far more comfortable! I love them and won't wear Boombah again since the Adidas are lighter and more comfortable.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Agreed #19. There won't be a next pair! Like I said above, I picked up a pair of Adidas Vigor Bounce Trail Runners (grey/onix/blue) at the last tourney for $70. Same shoe is various colors is on Amazon for $61. Definitely better constructed show and far more comfortable!

Boombah replaced them but I was stuck at the tourney between games with only one option... go to the Adidas vendor and buy their turf shoe. I actually love them and most likely won't wear the Boombah again since the Adidas are lighter and more comfortable.

Jeff,

Florida Half Century plays tourneys all over the state once a month. 60+ is usually the 2nd weekend and 50-60s is 3rd/4th weekend of the month. The site is:

http://www.fhcsoftball.org

As JB said, there is also a senior league that plays on Thursday nights at Greco Complex. We are between seasons but the next season starts this coming Thursday (9/8).

The link to the hillsborough county softball site is:

http://www.hcsportsonline.com/wop_nights

The address to the 3 Hillsborough County complexes we play at are listed below:

Greco Softball Complex (Thursday night has a senior league)
11000 N 50th St
Tampa, FL 33617

There are also leagues at the following... just not sure if they include senior leagues:

Ed Radice Sports Complex
14720 Ed Radice Dr
Tampa, FL 33626

William Owens Pass Park (senior leagues during the day but I still work for a living so...)
1128 Sydney Dover Rd
Dover, FL 33527

Feel free to call me if you need any more info.

My senior team is not playing in this tourney so I am looking to play with someone else. I play infield, mainly SS and 3rd but also 1st. I'm in the Tampa area.

Please reply with contact information if interested.
