June 10, 2017 Hit the gap | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Friend to get a hip Replacement I had hip replacement done in 2013 and I wish I had not waited so long to do it. I had it done robotically by Dr. Jimmie Chow in Phoenix AZ. No pain afterward. Walking without a walker in 2 days. Walking pain free thereafter. I really recommend this Dr. |

July 13, 2016 Hit the gap | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Is there a penalty for batter not releasing the bat after reaching 1st base? The real question is why the heck would you want to carry your bat to first? Surely it would slow you down. |
Dec. 2, 2015 Hit the gap | Topic: Bats Discussion: 2 FLEX or NOT 2 FLEX One of the best bats I ever had was the Easton Flex SCN3. Lots of handle flex. |

Jan. 13, 2015 Hit the gap | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: End cap repair Just popped the end cap off my MM Combat Sr. Gear. Will Gorilla glue work for the repair? Can't find marine glue. |
Sept. 20, 2014 Hit the gap | Topic: Bats Discussion: 27 oz Nightmare video Are there plans for a balanced model? |
Sept. 20, 2014 Hit the gap | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: hip replacement I had full replacement done in 2013 using the Super Path method. It is the least invasive of anything being done right now. It is done robotically. I was walking normally without any aids in two days. On the fifth day, I spent four hours at the mall shopping with my wife. Six weeks later I played a complete softball game at third base. I don't know if they do this method in your area as there are only a few doctors that can do this. I would definitely check it out. Just Google Super Path hip replacement. |

July 25, 2014 Hit the gap | Topic: Bats Discussion: SENIOR BATS The Combat 2012 Senior Gear bats are on sale for $99. Click on the bat on the SSUSA home page. It is listed at $159 but when you click on it, it is $99. |
March 5, 2014 Hit the gap | Topic: Bats Discussion: Ulta2 with ASA stamp??? I agree. I got three years out of mine and several thousand swings before it finally broke. |
July 2, 2013 Hit the gap | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Just had complete hip replacement. I had mine done robotically. I have no restrictions except for lifting anything over 50 lbs. Due to the limited range of motion that a bad hip has, the muscles associated with the hip and lower back also lose range of motion and flexibility. They also atrophy. The PT that I have been given is all about regaining strength and flexibility in the hip flexor, buttocks, upper thigh and lower back. I've also got to work on my core area. |
June 30, 2013 Hit the gap | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Just had complete hip replacement. I quit playing senior softball about 2 years ago. Just too painful. Monday I had a complete hip replacement done by Dr. Jimmy Chow in Phoenix AZ. If you or anyone you know need hip or knee replacement, this is the only Doc I would call. He is one of only 10 docs in the US that does it using the Super Path method. It's as non-invasive as you can get. They come in at the side of your upper thigh right at the hip joint. No cutting of muscle, ligaments, tendons, nerves and the like. I used a walker to help me get around for 2 days. I have been walking on my own since Thursday. No limp, no pain, normal gait. It's astounding. I was actually able to get in about 4 hours mall therapy shopping with my wife yesterday. Onward and upward. Fred Taylor |
Jan. 21, 2013 Hit the gap | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: loosing toenails I have lost the nails on both big toes too many times to count. In my case it was always from running to a base and stopping very quickly, driving the toe into the end of the shoe. My sliding days are over. I found that mesh turf shoes stopped that. More give at the end of the shoe. Also, keeping the nails cut short helps. |
Oct. 19, 2011 Hit the gap | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: bat thiefs Mad Dog, sorry to hear about the theft. That would be about $40,000 worth of bats. Keep an eye on E-Bay and Craig's list Phoenix. |
Aug. 22, 2011 Hit the gap | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: I just hit a 677 foot HR WOW !!! What was supposed to be a link to a fun game has turned into a clash of personalities, just like almost every post on this site does. Sad, sad, sad. A very dysfunctional bunch. |
Aug. 19, 2011 Hit the gap | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: I just hit a 677 foot HR Just a little fun here. I've become addicted to the Miken Sports HR Derby game. Does anyone else play this game? My best score is 4309 and longest HR is 677 feet. GO to www.mikensports and click on the HR Derby. |
April 9, 2011 Hit the gap | Topic: Bats Discussion: Baden renegade senior bat, Bass Crippler bat I've hit with the Baden. The ax handle grip is actually very comfortable and natural feeling. After about 100 swings, the bat still feels a stiff but if it breaks in it should be a real good bat. |
