Discussion: Batters Box Rule Change

I don't see any rule change 2023-24 pdf.
All the rules I see are the same as 2022-2023.

Hello Kegs,

I'm just glad we could beat you old farts and put the feather in our cap. Lol just kidding.

Very impressive play.

Discussion: Batter out of the box

I believe most umpires don't appreciate being put in the position to call out a batters for being out of the box. Many times only an inch or two. We all know hitters don't like being called out on such a ticky tack calls. Friends and family members watching the game don't appreciate it either. Let's just put everybody at ease and adopt the USSSA conference rule. I have already set my email to SSUSA and I suggest everybody else do the same.

Well said WBAUM. I quoted you and sent an email.
I think most players are ready for a rule
change regarding the batters box. Thank you Dave for the proper proticall.

I think it really only matters what the umpires interpretation is. Definitely different from ump to ump. All you can hope for is the same calls for each team. Hopefully the ump can give a verbal on illegal pitches, that will give time for the hitter to process. U-trip umps tend to have a lower strike zone.

Just to confirm. The same senior softball Baden Fire is available with out SSUSA stamp. It is only up to Baden to confirm we can use the same ball with out the stamp ?
Thank you.

Discussion: Potential interference

This is what the umpire called.
Once the umpire realized the runner attempting to interfere with the throw he called a dead ball. Called runner out for interference with the throw and the runner going to second from first out for what he said an assumed out.
Inning over no runs.

Runner was about half way between second and third. Runner deliberately threw his hands up to make the throw harder, not for safety or to protect his head. No jumping to my knowledge.

After deliberations I think the call was correct but want to confirm.
Bases loaded one out.
Ground ball to third. Runner going to third from second throws his hands up to cause a bad throw. Runner does not contact the ball or third baseman and makes no attempt to get out of the way. This causes an errant throw that the second baseman cannot catch.
What's the call ?

Discussion: Am i wrong to think this way

Senior bats are already low compression especially after breaking in. So that is not a fair test. Senior softball organizations need to put pressure on bat manufacturers.
Make a cap that screws off. Measure thickness of the wall.

BLD is charging more so they can perform upgrades and maintenance. Unfortunately for whatever reason they did not do much maintenance and are sticking the bill to us.

On the good side, at least you don't have to worry about the infields being dragged or foul lines in the outfield. Last year ssusa did not do either at our worlds.

Discussion: Tournaments in general especially worlds

Is it too much to ask for field prep between games ?
It doesn't take too many games to get an unsafe infield.

Is it too much to ask for chalk lines between the foul pole and infield bags ?

Just basic customer service and safty issues that should
be included.

Thank you,
