Sounds about right Domer..... But they will tell you it's not about the money. "4 game guarantee for a 3 day tournament. Won't be participating in that" I agree with you FTP..... Just stupid.

I'm just curious for what reason would you drag out a 3 team bracket for 3 days?? 55Mpus.... unless I'm missing something it looks as though Fri mornings games are literally practice games and don't count towards anything?? people thst work have to take off to play practice games? Makes literally no sense for 3 teams tournament to drag it out 3 days!

Lol…. That’s exactly why we pretty much stopped playing SSUSA in Arizona… UTrip Senior and AWS you can go online and see your seeding games, who you play and what time…..and you can see bracket games as well.... prizes are waaaay better… and you get more HRs to hit… I’m not sure why teams even bother to play in AZ anymore… much better run tournaments available…

Dave not sure what comment or comments seem to amuse you and your Buddy Tim. I personally don’t care how many HRs you decide you want to give to each rated team. My problem is you call it an equalizer rule but it’s different based on age! If your in your 40s you get more HRs to make up 5 runs than the older teams. Sounds like Senior Softball likes to discriminate based on age. The older teams should have the same opportunity to make up their 5 runs as the 40s teams.

Dave....I’m not arguing HR limits... I agree each rating should have them. My argument is they should be the same across the board for all age brackets. You give give 40 Majors 8 then the 50 Majors should have 8, all the way up to 85 years old. There should not be any age discrimination in Senior Softball. I’m all for helping lower ranked teams compete using your “equalizer” rule. But it isn’t the same for all ages and rankings and it should be..... example.... 40 Majors vs 40s AAA, It’s clearly easier to make up a 5 run spot when you play “Down” to AAA and get 6 HRs to do it. Vs say 50 Major playing 50AAA and only getting 3 HRs. Let’s say the 40 Major teams hit 6 Solo HRs, they now eliminated the 5 run spot and take a 1 run lead..... 50 Major team, which by your rules is only allowed 3 HRs, does the same thing, hits 6 solo HRs ,they only get 3 runs, still chasing 2 runs, and now have 3 outs... in essence they lose an inning to try to make up 5 runs. Plus to top it off, when a game doesn’t make all 7 innings, the team still gets ALL 5 of their spotted runs, even though it’s not a complete game. There should not be such a disparity in the so called equalizer rule.... With different HR totals allowed for same rated teams, but different age brackets, that’s exactly what you have.

Hey Dave, how would you feel about making the HR limits the same for ALL age brackets? That would be a novel concept. Instead of making it easier for one age bracket to make up the 5 runs they have to spot, and harder for other age brackets. If the 40s get 8Hrs for Major and 6 for AAA, so should every other age bracket. You can’t have the same equalizer rule in all the age brackets if the HRs totals aren’t the same in all brackets.

Discussion: Playing back to a lower class

2017 we finished the year 38-35 in a 50's Major.... we were 33-20 against Major teams and 5-15 against AAA teams... We actually got run ruled 3 times... 2 times because of the spot! The HR rules need to be the same in all age brackets. I have mentioned this before as well.... It's not right that a 50 Major team (get 6 HRs) playing a 50 AAA (Gets 3 HRs) has to spot them 5 and only have 3 HRs to make those runs back. On top of that you rarely get 7 innings in to make up those runs! Maybe they shouldn't get 5 runs if we don't play 7 innings? ......Yet when a 40's Major (Get 8 HRs) plays a 40'AAA(Get 6 HRs) They play down and STILL get 6 Hrs to make up the 5 run spot! That is a hell of a lot easier to make up a 5 run spot when you get 6 HRs!

And as Darjlov said...……..You would think a Major team would be a better hitting team able to generate runs without using homeruns

You would think that to be true... In a perfect World! ..... but if that were the case, then there should NEVER be a solo HR hit as well.... That doesn't happen either.

No they’re not DBax...... Dbax, you said “Different age brackets don't get different number of home runs.” of course they do.... the 40 Majors get 8 HRs... 50 Majors only get 6 HRs...SAME skill levels, Majors, DIFFERENT age brackets..... 40s and 50s....

The 40s Majors get 8 HRs, 40 AAA get 6 Hrs... 50 Majors get 6 HRs, 50 AAA get 3 HRs. So....when you have to play down (Major vs AAA) in the 50's you ONLY get 3 Hrs to make up 5 runs you have to spot! If you hit 3 solos you are still losing by 2 runs! When a 40 Majors plays down against a 40 AAA, the Major team still gets 6 HRs to make up a 5 run spot! Say they hit 6 solo HRs, now they are up by 1 run.... Not sure why one age bracket has an easier time to make up 5 runs. I thought the 5 run spot was for a 7 inning game?? We rarely get in 7 innings, for whatever reason, so now there is even less time to get the 5 back. We have actually been run ruled a few times because they got to use the spot for runs. That's not right either!

I and believe I was also told that some of the older teams actually get unlimited HRs.….. 65/70???

Or..... How about if you put teams on fields that are less than 300 feet, give a few more HRs per game... I still don't understand why different age brackets get different number of HRs as it is. Could be looked upon as age discrimination...another topic for another day....

Not sure where you got those numbers Dave. Out of the 7 diamonds at the park, there is only one diamond that is at 285. Every other diamond out there is between 270 and 275. High fence or not those diamonds are short for Major/Major Plus teams.

Discussion: 4 DAYS NOW FOR VEGAS MASTERS?

With all these extra expenses you say you occur adding an extra day..... are you saying you are losing money now? Of course not, you’re not going to run a 4 day tournament for the same price of a 3 day and lose money doing it. That just goes to show how much you guys make in 3 days that you can now stretch it out to 4 and still make money.

You high rate for admission may have not increased. However as you stated, your reasoning for a 4 day tournament is to let more teams in. More teams in paying $745 a pop sure adds up to the bottom dollar.

Please don’t get me wrong, you and everyone involved DESERVE all the money you make putting on the show and you all do a great job! That is an undertaking I would never want to attempt. There is NOTHING wrong with making making money either. We all need to make it to be able to do the things we enjoy. You need to make make money to continue to do what you do. SSUSA needs it to do what they do. Please just don’t act as though money is not part of the decisions that get made.
