Let's start with the positives : Great facility, albeit Summertime was not good with the heat. This would be an excellent facility for November thru March possibility :) Now the negatives which might be a little long. What has happened to SSUSA running tournaments as this weekend had a few issues. First the heat was an issue playing in the middle of the day with no nighttime playing when in fact there are lights there. Second was scheduling issues. Why a 4 team bracket needs to play 3 days is beyond me and should not have been dragged out for 3 days. Round Robin games scheduled over 2 days, WHY ???? Third was the umpiring crew. Boy I don't know where to start with this. Simply awful, lack of knowledge on the rules and the wasted time between innings spent trying to keep track of scoreboard was ridiculous. One ump told my team this was a teaching tournament because we have not played in so long and to get us to understand the rules again, REALLY. Too many issues where Tournament Directors had to waste time getting things straightened out. Again just my opinion so I understand if there's a difference of opinions as expected.

Let me say just 1 death is not good but the percentage rate for deaths from Covid-19 is .043 % (yes less than 1/2 %) of those infected actually die from this virus for state of Arizona. People saying virus is on the rise well yes itís because more people are getting tested. I believe itís actually less than 1% worldwide. All I can say itís your right to stay home if you donít feel safe or you come join us in Yuma for some great senior softball. I will not live in fear like the media would like you to believe. After current situation of protests, rioting & looting we will find out in about 2 weeks if it really spreads. Sorry but just my opinion.

I'm a 60+ year old who lives in Yuma, Az. and looking to play 6/19 - 6/21 So. Cal State Championships. My current 55 AAA team is not playing this weekend so I would like to play on a 60's team. Anyone looking for an extra player give me a call, Pancho @ (928) 259-9646.

How soon we know if Yuma, Az. is definite and also what divisions would be scheduled there. Being from Az. it would be nice, less travel but i understand the logistics ?

Discussion: How does a 55 major team who has their own 55 major division end up playing in a 50 major division

I agree with USMC21 that playing 6 straight games in 90+ degree heat is uncalled for when you schedule a 2 day tournament (Sat/Sun). Playing 2 Round Robin games and than a 3 game bracket to guarantee that each team gets a minimum 5 games is ridiculous. We had to play an "IF" game in bracket play just to get to our 5th game of the day. WHY ?????. It's a qualifier so there should not be any out of age / class bracket games unless there is less than 2 said teams in that particular age division. If you have not played SSUSA tournaments in Arizona you have no room to make a comment here. We that play here understand where USMC21 is coming from.

I asked this same question 3 weeks ago and was told we won't know til it gets closer to tournament. Being from Phoenix I don't want to stay in Hemet if we're playing in Cathedral City.

Discussion: Playing back to a lower class

Here's my point i'm trying to get across. If I play 3 (RR) games against AAA teams that's 15 runs I'm giving up. Extra runs. Another Major team only plays 2 of 3 (RR) games against AAA teams they're only giving up 10 runs so I'm getting penalized (5 runs) which could mean the difference in being seeded 1st in bracket play or 3rd, 4th, 5th etc. So when bracket play starts I would be getting screwed as seeding goes by Runs Scored Against because of playing an additional AAA team. It's not Runs Scored Against, they were not scored, they were given to that team. In this case you should not be penalized for this.

Dave Dowell here's a point I'm trying to make. When we get mixed together for weekend tournaments and my team as a Major team plays 3 AAA teams that's 15 extra runs I'm giving to the tiebreaker of runs scored against when another Major team only plays 1 or 2 AAA teams. All I'm asking is how is this fair to playing down in another class. I'm all for the 5 runs but penalizing us twice by taking away our HR's too is not right. Thoughts ????

Obviously this conversation is going nowhere. I'm done with this discussion. You're making points about a tournament where you play all teams in your class and this scenario doesn't happen. C'mon Tim.

Isn't giving up 5 runs and taking away 3 HR's the same thing. Why don't you just give them 8 runs right off the start. You're taking everything from upper class teams. I'm simply asking how this is fair for a upper class teams. Common Sense people, Common Sense :-)

I'm not angry Tim it's just frustrating going to tournaments and playing out of class until it's time for your Elimination games start. So let's reward a team for playing great and move them up only to tell them your going back to your old rules for these games. Just my opinion that something needs to be discussed. I've talked teams in my area and we all feel the same way. I'm merely suggesting to look at this rule in the future.

Well Timmy youíre kidding me right. So letís handicap the upper class teams by taking away an additional 3 (soloís) or 12 (grand slams) runs. Your not taking away only 5 runs but 8-12 runs possibly.

Why is it that you think your getting rewarded for being moved up in class (i.e. AAA to Major) but in all reality when you play locally (usually) in your home state and don't have enough teams in your class you get mixed in with lower level classes. What I'm trying to say is when your a Major team playing back to AAA you give up 5 runs which I'm okay with but it's the only being allowed the 3 HR's instead of the usual 6 HR's. So in fact your giving up 8 runs minimum if those 3 HR's are solo shots. I just don't feel you should be giving up both runs & HR's. Your taking your team out of there element of swinging away and now not having that choice. This rule seriously needs to be changed in some form or another. Thoughts ?????

You guys should go to Victory Lane Park this weekend for a Senior Tournament and talk to people. Some teams are always looking.
