Discussion: Best Cold Weather Bat

I agree it hard to find a good composite bat for for below 55 weather. I'm a Combat guy so I'm bias. I've been swing an OG U-trip Derby Boys(white with blue graphics) during the winter months for the past 2 years. The bat has held up very well and the pop desired is there. My opinion this bat was a fore runner to the white Centenarian.

Doorman very good suggestions for Awards.
I will say one thing about the Cal cup awards. We received the bat bags, but then spoke with Terry & asked if we could trade the bags for the Shirts given out to runner ups. He agreed The bag I would have never used the shirt I will keep due to winning the championship even with the Miken logo. (I'm a Combat person):)

Discussion: Best Method for Breaking in a new composite Senior Bat ??

Pricer & Gary A question was asked and info was provided to answer it.

This is why I don't come on here that much.
guys always belieiving they know it all, but don't.

Warranty...First off senior bats don't have warranties.
So if I go out in the garage because it snowing, raining or too cold to take bp and throw ball at a bat on a mattress it's illegal? Come on get real.
Secondly these tools simulate the ball striking the bat which isn't illegal.
For you clonheads it not hitting the bat against a tree or pole, rolling or shaving which is illegal. Its a softball hitting a bat. Oh You forgot it was softball we were playing.
Most senior take a lot of bp depending on the weather & time of year. So it not about putting in effort to be a better hitter. Its' just about getting equipment ready so it last a little longer.
My Gamers aren't used for bp and my bp bats aren't used for tourneys. I buy a new senior bat once a year. Because I use my equipment wisely and my bat are only used by me.
So lets not take the thread down a road that doesn't need potholes.

Discussion: Best Method for Breaking in a new composite Senior Bat ??

With most senior bats it doesn't require a lot of swings to get a bat game ready. I swing Combat the grey was go to go from day one for game. The MM required about 100 swings. I used my Glove break-in tool to break-in my blue MM gear2. Took about 75-100 strikes up and down the sweet spot & rotating the barrell. It was game ready after 5 bp swings
I made a variation on my Glove break-in tool so it could hold up to the pounding on my composite bats. There are several models and manufactures of these tool. You can veiw them on you-tube. price ranges from $16.99 to $60.

Here's a link to the item & others

Discussion: Why give an award if it doesn't reflect outcome

db14
You want facts. I was there when the guy walked up gave shirts & plaque. Shirts in brown bag He stated that he hoped shirts are ok there are some extras in the bag. Everyone was looking at the plaque, and the guy walked away. If he would have hung around he would have heard the displeasure as to the way the team felt it was being treated. He knew coming to deliver them that they didn't reflect anything noting Champions on them. So you in fact were trying to get by with these non reflective awards. The TD should have done it right in the first place.
For everyone else: It's not about the award it's about the way people are treated.....
Bottom line... If we put on a tourney and offered awards you bet your ass if it wasn't right we'd hear about it.
This is about what's right..........

In the national event everyone is aware of awards being offered. If you only accecpted the handshake and didn't speak-up that's on you. I'm just saying if the awards is provided for being champion let it say it. The qualifier was representing SSUSA. IJS

Discussion: Why give an award if it doesn't reflect outcome

This past weekend we (ODB) finally got our awards for winning the SSUSA qualifier in Yuba city last September- a T-shirts. It appeared that they would be giving out nice sweatshirts to the winners, but that wasn't the case. Every TD puts Champions on the the winners awards. This isn't the case in Yuba city. The shirt says Yuba City Qualifier. No Chahmpions is on it. It is a shirt the general pop would buy at a tourney. When you play $500+ for the entry fee a better award should be provided. I will not be going to Yuba City to play again.

The Gear 2 is suppose to be the same as the yellow just painted blue. I picked one to go with my yellow, Like the feel, but the bat spidered rather quickly didn't seem to have same pop. From what I read everyone has a different take on the bat. I traded my for a custom glove. I'm presently considering the Centenarian. Have you hooked up on a team yet.

Discussion: BATCH?

The manufacture determine the number of bats in a run. It can be determined two ways by the end cap used on the bat or serial#. As years go by bat companys change graphics bat tape and endcaps. EC are mmade to close bat and assist bat performance. Company logo change in style yearly. The number will tell if its a first batch because number also tells production date. versus second or continued run. Most bats that come out in the first year may gain a rep over time as being a great bat and everyone wants one. It may be a continued run. However the previous bats could be tanks and then a 2012 model could be a fire stick. Everyone would want the 2012 demand would go up. My 2 cent is there's too much made about batches. You should find the production date. I have a 05/06 batch Grey Combat snake bat & 08 Combat MM gear, both still going strong not used for bp just games. I've had some crazy offers for them, but won't let them go. because they're very good and durable. Take the mikens ( don't swing or like them) the past few years they've been breaking left and right, but the older runs are more durable. Both hit bombs one is just more glassy. hope this helps jm2cents
