That is exactly the way the rule reads in the ASA rule book for ALL slow-pitch levels. Obviously not a rule bastartized just for Senior Softball.

There should be no appeal on this play. It appears to be umpire error The rule reads:
1.2 BASE ON BALLS
If the pitcher desires to walk a batter
intentionally, he may do so by notifying the plate umpire who
shall award the batter first base. Only one batter at a time can be
intentionally walked.

By allowing this to be done incorrectly as soon as the 2nd runner gets to first and the ump says play all bets are off.
He can’t call the 1st runner out because of his mistake.
The best the umpire can do is call both players back and do the play over/correctly. Or to save time just say my bad everyone is safe lets play.
This is just my take on how I read the rule.

MVET
The only risk he is taking at $75 shipped is getting a bat for next to nothing.(nicest way I could put it). If he wanted to pay say $115 and also pay shipping that would be a good deal for both of you otherwise you have the e-mail I sent you.

I'm with you Smooth. KC

Butch you don't get a vote. (just kidding my friend)

Champaign is more centrally located in the Nation of the Midwest then KC and if that means a larger turnout from Oh.Mich. and Ind. Ky, etc. then it would be worth holding it there.

Tball,
Nice one. I'm sure you relize you just set of a 200 paragraph 3 page tirade.
How about nipping it in the bud by telling us there is no discussion about using that ball in SSUSA.
You could save your friend from an all night typing session.
E'stein do not take offense to this. I am with you on the using good balls and bats. Just in 3 or 4 sentences or less.

Good luck in PHX. to Butch, Billy and the rest of the Travelodge team from Pete, Mick, Steve(the Iowa connection) and the rest of the J&J Sports team (f.k.a. Bagbey's). Hopefully schedules work out to where we can get together sometime over the week-end.

SSUSA STAFF,
Understand the rotating through the various facilities, but for lack of a better way to pu it. Could you put a little more thought into the rotation in the future.
Last year we played AAA at Chavez(terrible complex). Did well and got moved to Major (no complaints there).

had a great time in PHX last year so we voted to go again this year only to find out we have to play at that crap hole again this year. I am guessing we are not the only team that this is happening to. Several of the other AAA teams that were in PHX last year got moved to Major.

I know it's too late for this year but try to vary the rotation so someone playing at one level one year and gets moved up doesn't have to play at the same place the next year.

Something like 50AAA moves to where 55Major was the year before type of thing.

This doesn't change our thinking on playing in this tournament because it is a class tourney would just not like to play the same place 2 years in a row. (especially there).

Weatherman,
You will be playing "AAA" but all teams that are invited to the TOC have won a "big" tourney that will cause them to be re-rated to Major, very few exceptions to this. The teams qualified as AAA but have been re-rated immediately or by Feb. PS you will be playing AAA rules and using whatever new rules they come up with this year.

butch17,

Hey Butch my friend how are you. Thanks to you and the Travelodge guys for the wishes. Tell Bill, Terry and any of the other "old" Winchell guys you might run into hi from Mick, Nielly and myself. If you are ever in Des Moines let me know we can go to Arthurs. It is still a fun place. Will miss catching up with you guys this year in Florida. Side note you keep mentioning 11 fielders in these posts. Is that so you don't have to cover so much ground??? LOL. You know i am just messing with you on that one. You can still field/play with the best of them. Best holiday wishes to you and you family.

MVet,
Chuck thanks for the best wishes from myself and the rest of the Bagbey's team. Hopefully we will be able to be competitive down there, you know with the snow and the cold here in Iowa its a little tough to get any practice in. Hitting indoors in a tunnel is just not the same. Have been taking some BP down at Vet's auditorium which is a little more helpful. Ran into some of the old little league and HS guys(Clair Sumner, Jack Huff and a couple of others). told them i saw you in AZ and they said to tell you hi. Hope you and your family have a great holiday. PS. I am thinking the new rules and the mass move ups will probably see you guys in the Major division next year. Might get to see you if you are going to Ill. (Elgin Sahmburg or wherever it is).

Discussion: RULE CHANGES...COMMENTS

I’m with everyone (well most everyone) 1up and single or walk. The powers that be (which is not the players and it should be) will probably not rescind the HR out rule. Why can’t we have the best of both? Keep the 1up rule. IMO one of the best rules anyone has come up with as far as limiting the HR and allowing it to be part of the entire game. No more difficult to keep track of whether it is a single or a HR or if it is an out or a HR. It keeps the HR in play for the whole game. It also increases/changes some of the strategy of the game and keeps the defense a big part of it.

At the very least give the hitter one extra chance and make it a foul ball. Allow one foul ball HR if the batter hits a second one it is an out. If the hitter has 2 strikes and hits one out then it is a foul ball third strike and an out. again just MHO.

Who were these monster/major teams? We played 50AAA in Az. and didn't see any teams that were hitting 15 to 16 homeruns a game for singles and getting thier five runs an inning with one or no outs then scoring a ton of runs in open innings. Thank goodness we didn't play any of those teams we would have gotten our fanny's spanked.
