| Nov. 5, 2018 doker | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Excessive Speed Pitch This has been a big bugaboo to me as i pitch!!! and i have too many umps calling pitches flat on me when i throw my pitches at almost the same speed all the time!!! i contest that it is physically impossible to throw a pitch the fifty feet between the pitchers rubber and the mat at a slow pace without reaching the six foot level!!!! As i normally pitch close to the 12 ft level and i suddenly throw one lower at the six feet level they(umps) can't handle that lower look even though it hits the mat!!!! and they call it illegal or flat !!!! when it isn't!!! Just my two cents on the subject!!! |
| Oct. 19, 2018 doker | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: CHOPPED / TOMAHAWKED BALL Hey guys the chop swing was used all the time in the late 70's and early 80's...when the bases were just 60/65 ft...the really fast left handed batters would chop down on the ball toward third...and it was an easy hit for them until ASA WROTE THE CHOPPING RULE and it has hardly been used since...especially since the new base is 70ft away!!!!! fyi |

Well, as we are getting older by the minute(i play 70's) it is getting harder and harder to get enough players to attend some our better tournaments.Some being a plane ride away instead of just driving to THEM!!!! IS THERE A CHANCE WE COULD GET THIS FOR THE 70 TEAMS AS WE HAVE IT FOR THE 75+ TEAMS.....IT WOULD MEAN MORE TEAMS TO PLAY WHEN WE TRAVEL AWAY!!! JUST A THOUGHT!!!!!!!!!! |

OUR 65+ AND 55+ LEAGUES HERE IN Austin use the run thru rule and force out at second and third base...must retouch base run thru to advance on same play....runners are responsible to avoid contact with the fielder on all plays or called out!!! works great and we have two umpires from teams that are playing the next game....we as players live with it Experienced as an umpire or not...we also have a group of directors(positions held for 1-2 years) that get together at the beginning of the year to set up the teams so that the league is fairly competitive thru-out the year...we have four separate schedules so the winners of each Playoff at the end of the year...cost is $90 for approx 70-80 games for each team for the year!!! PRETTY COOL AND FUN EVEN FOR US TOURNEY GUYS!!!! |
