Oct. 21, 2006 tank13 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Winter Workouts before next season Rabbit I new to senior board but this is my off season program. my first 8 week The goal is to prepare my body for the explosive winter lifting and training. In addition, lose fat and gain some muscle. Lay a foundation for a bat speed / accuracy increase. I perform these "quads" in succession to complete a weight training workout: Warmup with medicine ball movements and yoga poses Quad 1: Squat Incline dumbell press Side lunges Pullups Quad 2: Dips Romanian Deadlifts Bent over rows Knee raises (or crunches) I perform each quad without rest, starting with 12 reps, then 10, then 8 with marginally challenging weight. Rest two minutes, and repeat twice (or once if you can't handle it). Then rest two minutes and start the next quad. This superset training is perfect for laying the foundation because it is a cardio workout while challenging the muscles. It is a fast workout so you can make it a habit. Do this 2 or 3 times a week, depending on your health. I go in the mornings on Mon, Wed, and Sat. I also incorporate a core fitness / bat speed workout. I'm tweaking some of the exercises, but it's all medicine ball and bodyweight, with some bat specific exercises mixed in maybe this will help you it works for me Tank13. |
Oct. 21, 2006 tank13 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Tell us your superstitions and quirky things before or during games gary you sound like a good pitcher look forward to face you one day when a start play senior ball. But as long as I still can hit with the young guys and complete at thatlevel I going to play the comp is great to see the faces of the young guys when an older player beats them. Tank13 |
Oct. 21, 2006 tank13 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Tell us your superstitions and quirky things before or during games Hey Gary 19 Most of my HR's are in centerfield most pitchers that know me try to pitch me way outside or way inside. I look at them to see any fear in the eyes, I don't try to hit any one. but if they look away they are going to walk you or just not going to give you anything to hit. In my younger days if you hit our pitcher I will undress your pitcher. you have to protect you pitcher in our class, like most hitters that used the middle of the field you can hit on top of the ball and send it by the pitcher before he can get up a glove. most of us have to work on monday so I would want to hurt anyone. but there are some outfields that hit the middle everytime they are up, don't know about senior softball will play senior ball in a couple of years. But watch pitchers if you look at them they will tell you how they will pitch a HR hitter, if they keep looking at you they are going to battle you on every pitch if they look away they are going to pitch around you, hope this let you know a little about my crazy twisted mind. Oct. 20, 2006 tank13 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Injury that has set you back Hey guys at our age everyone has been injuryed or has had surgery, big deal. Suck it up hit the weight room, Hit more balls get in better shape. Most all injuries come from not being in shape or not prepared before you start playing a game Strech then strech some more Than after the Game drink a case of beer you get real loose. Tank13 |

Oct. 18, 2006 tank13 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Wish we could put the illegal bat doctoring talk to rest tator 50 Good to put a name with the name tator. sorry to hear that you was injury last the boys down south didn't say that the reason your power drop off was because of a injury. They was talking so much about the bat and nothing else. They just said it was so hot that they could not think it was legal. If you say it is I believe you I don't know you yet but you sound like a very different type of person that take his softball first and everything else second. Look forward in meeting you maybe this year sometime, Still playing a lot of young ball and not ready for seniors quiet yet. Be nice to go hit a couple hundred balls and see if we can't break a couple bats. If we going to talk HRS and avg in 124 Games last yr I hit .788 and they said 98 hrs but all I care about is if our team wins not STATS stats are for people with egos and nothing to live for, Winning is what it all about, 2nd place is the first loser. Oct. 17, 2006 tank13 | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Wish we could put the illegal bat doctoring talk to rest I just turned 50 and still play alot of open ball in the south, I hit with some of the players in the Pensacola area and they Just laugh about some of the post on illegal bats that some of the senior holy roller talk about on this board I myself do not need one being 6'6 285 I still swing a Easton + and it so hot I don't want to lay it down to swing a Ultra II. they talk about this Tater Player that his game really fell off when they got on to him about his bat and now he is a basehiter instead of the bid power hitter he once was after this bat issue came up. Now it is hard for anyone around wanting to play with him on there team. With all of this talk and focus on bats make one wonder if you want to play senior ball or just retire form softball. Like I said I am new to this and I agree with Stanley the focus should be on SOFTBALL and let the Higher ups and TD'sand even the Umpires enforce the rules and make them, and the players play ball Tank13 Dothan ALA |
