Nov. 4, 2021 Duckman | Topic: Rules of the game Discussion: Tag/No tag play -- does the tagged run count? Run counts. Runner not tagging up is a Timed Out with the 3rd out occurring at that time. |
March 26, 2021 Duckman | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Accessing pdf files I'm definitely no expert, but I found that not using any shortcuts and typing in the full seniorsoftball.com then enter and when you need access to a file tap the 3 dots in the upper right and tap 'open in samsung internet' works on a Samsung phone. The problem doesn't seem an issue with iphones. |
May 2, 2020 Duckman | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Dugouts The players are spread out at least 6 feet apart along the fence hopefully avoiding the wild throw lanes. A wild throw is unlikely to hit someone and would allow runners to advance. Hitting someone is probably not an out just a dead ball. No advantage vs. a clean throw. Why not just try to nail a base coach, they're closer? If it's obvious your "accidental" wild throw allows the winning run to score in a tight game, then you'll have both teams chasing your butt into the parking lot. Lol |
May 2, 2020 Duckman | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Dugouts If you are alert, getting hit by a foul ball by standing along the fence outside the dugout is negligible, as well as collisions. Wild throws can be avoided if alert. There are plenty of safe areas along the fence toward the outfield. As a bench player, contacting the ball or player, can hurt your team. Injuries would be of the softball type. The alternative, outside the dugout, would require constant contact with the gate. Players going in and out between innings, every hitter, pitch runner, etc. Constant delays. The latch, fencing and post would see more touching than the ball. Social distancing would not be the standard. Noone, when warned that there are too many players outside the dugout, ever thought, "Wow, I'm glad the ump noticed that, I could have been injured." Noone. |
April 30, 2020 Duckman | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: Dugouts The new virus regulation seem reasonable but the true weakness lies with the dugout. There is no way to keep any resemblance of social distancing in a dugout sometimes designed for kids. The solution seems to be that some players stand outside the field. This would require constant contact with the gate and crowding through the opening. Why not allow some players to stand inside the field of play? "Inherent danger of fowl balls?" This is not baseball. Overthrows are the problem, so stay out of line and alert. The risks are far less than the confines of the dugout. |
