What a total waste of rhetoric.

I wish to thank my wife for giving us all an English lesson from my office computer. We have all heard the rumblings at the fields. For the most part the concerns expressed have merit. The problems with the super teams is they are looking for competition. Unfortunately, there is not much around especially in local tournaments. It is one thing to say there are only two major+ teams and therefore they will play a 2 out of three for the title. Why? Because its unfair to play them against lower class teams. Someone could get hurt. Well doesn't that same philosophy apply to seeding games? Years ago when the giants such as Nelco and Jerry's and Detroit Caesars became too big, they formed their own association, the NSPC. That leveled the playing field for a while. In seniors, the physical differences in the age brackets is unreal. To go even further, when seniors play ay night, their abilities are further eroded. There must be some way to achieve some type of parity although it looks like an impossible task. We must always bear in mind that there are many more recreational players out there than competitive players and they usually don't it seriously enough to be heard on a board like this.

Typical Men. Never bother to read before they start writing.
The conversation concerning Team Florida took place between players at a table near the concessions. I was not relaying my thoughts but rather those of the men playing and Arizona Bobcats or Texas Titans does not equate to Team Florida. I think the implication was that no one else says they are Team Arizona or Team California. As far as the ED drug, that was a part of the conversation and had nothing to do with my thoughts or my husband. It is rather interesting that you can display such a blase' attitiude towards cheating, etc. It is this type of complacency that contributes to an overall problem that doesn't really exist according to you.
It is a fact that lawyers eventually get involved in everything. Ignorance of this fact is what makes it so easy. That and you admitting to illegal equipment on these posts and conversations about people learning 'to dance' if they want to pitch. The NFL and NHL are perfect examples of what happens when extreme change is instituted. This world is now all about litigation and liability in case you haven't noticed and its about to rear its ugly head in the softball community.
Where does all this come from? Thirty years of tagging along and listening.

I recently attended the Tampa Tournament with my husband who is an attorney and a player. For months now he has been telling me that it is only a matter of time before the litigation attorneys find their way into our game. Insurers are looking at dropping their liability coverages because of the greed of the bat and ball manufacturers and when the litigation starts, the manufacturers, associations, municipalities and sponsors will all be named parties. Sounds like doomsday. The greed factor in softball is at an all time high and while it is plausible to believe that sponsors who pick up the tabs are good for the game, they are in fact totally counter-productive and will be the ultimate downfall for both competitive and recreational softball. I overheard a conversation between some players and coaches in Tampa that went something like this and I paraphrase for brevity....Team Florida is quite presumptious in using the name of the state for their team. Nowhere else does any team use the state name. Well, if they're going to be called Team Florida, at least they should have the integrity and credibility not to recruit players from out of the state of Florida. Isn't Florida among the top three in senior players? Perhaps in lieu of trying to destroy parity within the state, the powers that be should try a reasonable alternative, the Cialis Challenge.

This circumstance along with many others along the same lines demonstrates the direction that the sport is headed. Somewhere down the road, a AA or AAA recreation player is going to get hit by a line drive from the Ultra II of a major+ player using a 47 core in a seed game and that will be the end of that.
