Discussion: Pregame batting practice at Wallace Marine Park, Salem

At the Northwest Championships, we have the first game, 9 am, Tuesday, at Wallace Marine Park. Can we do some pregame batting practice on the field, but out of the infield?

Discussion: Baden Ball

I do clean our balls after the games and rotate the clean balls in. It is the right thing to do to help the fielder see the ball and reduce the chance of injury. However, this is an advantage to the opposition in seeing the ball more clearly when hit. Our batter gets minimal advantage for the clean ball. Both teams would need to abide by the cleaning rule until the end of 2028 when the Baden contract ends.

A 75 AAA is okay for 70 AA so that is not a problem. Our pitcher is checking with a doctor next Friday to know if he can play. So I will keep you in mind and tell you next Friday if I still need you. SSUSA provided me with your phone number so I will call you either way. Thanks.

Discussion: stem cell

I had my right total hip replacement in 2014 and back to playing tournaments 4 months later, 100% back in nine months. So when my right left hip and right knee became very painful, in 2019, I did stem cell, prp and masking injections to help my new stem cells grow. They were my cells plus some cryogenic stem cells. The swelling was significant for a few weeks and gradually dissipated. Then, I went through twice a week physical therapy and twice a week low impact resistance training. Started playing ball four months after the procedure. I had a second shot of my stem cells six months later and followed the same rehab procedure.
Result is it may have delayed the eventual need to replace, but not sure. Clarification point, I am 6 ft. tall and weigh 160 lbs., and play third base. So, not a lot of weight or stress on the joints. I replaced the left hip and both knees in 2022 and 2023. I still play five to eight games a week and eight tournaments a year. I alpine ski 10-15 times a year. With all that, the pain is low and swelling minimal. Advice, never give up, it is too much fun to miss.

Discussion: Winter Worlds revised rules

I don't like the runners plate as the line is safer. A runner can cross the line and avoid a wild throw or a catcher chasing after ball in the runners way. The runner's plate forces the runner to take a specific path to home with the effect of possible collisions. Plus the umpire watches a runner crossing a line and not have to also make sure the runner steps on a plate. One of the most common calls in question is if the runner beats the throw to home. Let's not make it more difficult for the umpire with critical play calls at home.

Discussion: Winter Worlds revised rules

At Desert West and the beginning of the games, the umpire explained that the runner crossing the home scoring line must run through the line drawn from the fence toward the left batter box. However the line stopped about five feet from the batter box. The player will be called out if they cross through the five foot non-lined space. He said that was the Director's decision.
Then one of the umpires said he was good with the batter's back foot stepping beyond the front of the strike mat.
Why are these rules revised at the tournament by the umpires and directors. Let's not confuse the teams with these made up rules.
