Discussion: Pitching rules

From the 2022-23 rules summary:

Pitcher may take one step while keeping pivot foot in contact with pitcher’s box but does not have the below language found in the entire

rule "until the pitched ball leaves the hand".

There is a heated argument in our LL that they do not have to have the pivot foot remain in contact with the box.

A pitching instructor is teaching that the pivot for must remain in contact with the pitchers box until the ball leaves the pitchers hand.

Is that the correct interpretation of the rule.. seems straight forward to the most of us!

Discussion: Runner returning to first base to avoid force out

Situation: Runner on 1st base. Batter hits a fly ball to the shortstop in shallow LF. Runner breaks for 2nd but attempts to return to 1st base after the catch. The SS's throw is up the first base line and the first baseman catches the throw and steps backward toward the bag but hits the orange bag and runner makes it back to the bag before the defensive player can move their foot to the white bag.

Safe call or out?

Thanks
