Discussion: Bad Huntsman Experience

My 55 team got screwed over this year. We played in the B division last year and went 2 and out. We signed up for "C" this year and someone, not in their right mind, placed us in the AAA/Major Group for the seeding games. We got run ruled by 2 of the teams and went 0-3. Our coach called Dan Needy, the TD, to tell him about the mistake and he told us there was nothing he could do. But then he said after we got beat by the Major team that we would be placed in the correct division for bracket play. When the brackets came out later that night we were placed in the "A" division. We went 0-2. We spent a lot of money to travel there and play in this event and all we ever ask is to get a fair shake and have a chance to compete, that didn't happen this week. If you have similar stories from Huntsman would you share them with us. I'm just trying to get this information out to the senior softball community so that you know what goes on at Huntsman. We won't be going back.

Thanks,
Bruce

Staff, is the rating index for the divisions on this website? If they're not, could you please list the rating index for each division and age group?

Thanks

Discussion: ARROYE GRANDE BATTING PRACTICE LOCATION

Tom, looking at Google Earth, Silver Bowl park is about 4-5 miles NE of Arroyo park and like Steve said, it has 4 old softball fields with no fences and an open grass area. It's on E Russel road so we should be able to hit there Friday morning before we play. Thanks Steve for the suggestion. Good Luck to everyone this weekend in Vegas, see you Friday.

Not sure about the foot being part of the bag. As a SS I've taken throws from the outfield and had my foot blocking 2nd base, runner slides into my foot, which is touching the bag, but the runners foot never reaches the bag and the runner is called out for not touching the bag, so I don't know how it works for 1st base when the foot is on top of the bag.

Mike Bloom puts on some strange tournaments in Az. I also played this weekend and it was windy, temps were great but the field conditions are terrible. It's a 3 day tournament, games from 7 AM till 8 PM and they don't drag the infields at all. They put some water on it a couple times per day but I hate playing infield on those fields. Also his bracketing is something to be desired, In the C division, he had the #2 seed give 5 runs to all teams but the #1 team didn't have to, that made no sense whatsoever. He also had the seeding all screwed up in the B & C divisions. I won't be playing in any more of Mike's tournaments, to pay the entry fee, hotel and travel costs and then to have the rules made up as you go along isn't worth it.

Fred and Bobby, sorry but foreign substances aren't allowed on a pitchers or any players hand according to the 2013-2014 SSUSA rule book;

6.9 • PITCHING RESTRICTIONS
Neither the pitcher nor any other player shall, at any time during the game, be allowed to use any foreign substance upon the ball, the pitching hand or the fingers. Under the supervision and control of the umpire, powdered resin may
be used to dry the hands. The pitcher may wear a sweatband on the pitching arm or tape on the fingers. Batting gloves may not be worn on the pitching hand.
EFFECT: An illegal pitch shall be called on the first offense. If the pitcher continues to place a foreign substance on the ball, he should be ejected from the ball game.
