Discussion: Northern California Team Looking For Players

I am interested but I am currently in Iraq. I will be back in Sept. 2010. I will be 55 at that time. I am left handed and play 1B, can play 2B but I can not turn 2 if it comes to me for the pivot. I play catch at home and right field during the day. I think I am good ball player and can hang with the best. I am also dependable.

I live in Elk Grove. My name is Paul Rogers

He is out! As long as he is touching any part of the white bag, it is an out.

Discussion: Any ASA rule regarding defensive player kicking the ball?

He stopped the ball with his foot and I assume he picked it up afterwards, right? It is not an issue. As an umpire for 20 yrs, players stopped the ball anyway they can to make the play. It could be a wild throw or a hard hit, you can use your glove or your body to make the play.

Discussion: Ball Hits the Plate?

Tater50, i play and ump in Sacramento, Ca and when the ball his the plate or ground it is a dead ball. From my experience it is the same in ASA, USSSA, and NSA. I have never seen anyone hit a bounced ball. But, if I see it in a game i am umping, i will call the player out and eject him for Safety reasons. You just do not do that.
