Bullet: If Terryt123 does not hook up with you on an OG U2, I would be interested in a 28 oz, if you have one. Again, only if you do not do a deal with Terryt123.

Discussion: Is it legal

The OG Synergy = SCX2 is legal. Durability (to me), is about the same with the OG U2 (ASA stamp). The reissue U2s is a crapshoot on durability.

Bob: I believe that the MV-3 is a USSSA bat. I forgot to mention that Eastons from last year & this year are good with the 52s. Also, newer bats with the 44/375 balls may have durability issues.

A lot depends on the balls being used. If 44/375 then older pre-abi bats: easton...SCN3, SCX3, miken...Recoil, NRG500,many other choices. If the 52/300 balls....Demarini...Flipper, J3A, TPS...Z-1000, Z-2000, Miken...ASA U2, Triad, etc. Then, it's all about feel...endload vs. balanced; stiff vs. soft barrel; one vs. two piece again many factors to consider. what did you swing before ? Too broad a question without specifics.

Discussion: Funniest Softball Stories

This happened in late October this year in a tournament in NJ, in the 70+ division. I am blessed to still have decent speed; and, I leadoff the inning with a clean hit. I see that the OF is taking his time getting to the ball. Thus, I decide that I am going for two.

I head toward 2nd base and slide simultaneously with the ball arriving at the bag. However, the second baseman takes the throw, and lunges his glove at air (about chest high). At this point the second baseman has this look of bewilderment, wondering where is the runner. I yell up to him, hey I am down here (at the bag). I guess he's not used to seeing 70+ guys slide.

Discussion: what kinds of bats?

Abig factor is the ball being used. If the 44/375; then, the better composites generally. If the 52/300; then, the newer comps (Z-1000/2000), Easton line, etc. I find that stiff walled, end loaded, heavier bats work better with the 52s.

HJ thanks for the link, it worked. Some really beneficial info. Especially needed for spurt sports such as SB. When I was younger, and played racquetball, I used to jog several times around the court to warmup. Which the article advocates, among other dynamic stretches. Thanks again.

5Tools: If this is shot at me, I have been playing SS since 1993. I have been using composite bats since 2001. I had a senior moment; and, skipped over Alan's suggestion of rotating the bat. If not meant for me, cool. Even if meant for me....cool.

Great info Alan, thanks. Would like to add: distribute hits along the whole length of the hitting barrel. Constant pounding to a concentrated spot can cause weakness, especially in the break-in process.

I see that Bob about the no warranty. i was just pointing out for historical; and, FYI references. Oddly, Demarini has a "new" senior The One bat just released. As you say, Miken, Combat, Worth, (I'll add Reebok), have the large market share on senior bats. Obviously, you like Combats. It is good that you found a brand that works for you. I hope other seniors take the sound advice of trying teammates' bats; then, choose wisely for their purchase.

Bob: you are correct about the OGU2 being warrantied. However, the Legacy ang Geezer also had a guarantee. I believe that the Demarini The One for a short time had one too. I use the U2 and the yellow MM Gear (EL). Both work well.

mad dog: Could have been a bad pair. I use the high tops. I have had none of the problems that you did. I get at least one season ~ 250 games from one pair. Since the Mizunos work for you, obviously go with them.
