Discussion: Dudley Lightning

Have hit with both bats and the 16 model lasted over 1500 swings. I bought the 17 model the end of last December and it broke in 3 weeks with less than 500 swings on it before it cracked . not a good experience, both hit the ball good and saw little difference in performance, just the durability.

Discussion: An Old(er) Post for Southpaw

Hate to date myself but our first phone hung on the wall, had a crank on the side and 2 little bells on the front. there were 10 families on the same line and our ring was 2 longs and 2 shorts and everyone knew what was happening in the community.

Discussion: Passing of Fred Purvis

It is with deep sorrow to inform Senior Softball of the untimely passing of Mr.Fred Purvis. Fred was a great guy, great friend and was one of best hitters I had the privilege to play ball with in senior softball. He will be greatly missed. May God grant him eternal rest and may perpetual light shine upon him.

Discussion: 70 year old looking to play in Vegas

Just turned 70,live in AZ. and would like to find a AA, AAA or Major 70's team to play with in Vegas. I had knee replacement in April and so I'm not currently on any roster. To be honest, my knee situation limits my defensive play so I would have to play catcher or DH. I usually hit 650+for average and still have power when needed.

Discussion: Bat Weights & Bat Doughnuts

never used a heavy bat to warm up with since getting rid of my 35 oz black magic that I hit with a long time ago. Always used the gym to work on strength and used a broken bat with a couple of inches cut off the end for my warm up, although some of the guys looked at me like ???? when I was warming up. Saw this video a long time ago and routine works for me.. Now if I could only find a way not to hit those damm short piches

Discussion: Hr or out

I had the missfortune of hitting one out with the bases loaded my first time up playing senior ball, rounded the bases and touching home plate was called out. Don't know if that would be called a grand slam or not,,, that was in 97 and can't remember if you had to run the bases or not that long ago, but was still out....

Discussion: Why Do Some Guys Lose It Sooner

There are many things that are involved here. Genetics is one of the biggest ones, but much can be over come or compensated for with lifestyle. I know some guys who live a pretty unactive lifestyle and when they go to tourneys, usually play good for a couple of games then don t understand why their game goes downhill or they end up pulling a muscle or getting hurt. I ve been a personal trainer for years and have have seen some dramatic changes in clients from ages 18 to 92 with lifestyle changes,,, bottom line for me is your stuck with the Genetics that God gives you but the rest depends on your commitment to yourself

Discussion: Red Combat

I had a red combat when they first came out and hit some bombs with it. was great except for the end cap situation. I was glad to see them come out with the 10 inch white cent. and IMO it's one of the best senior bats out there. I think the 10 shorter barrel moves the sweet spot a little futher out on the bat.

Discussion: Centenarians review, 13" and 10"

I totally agree with the above assesments, both are great bats, I use the white cent. for my gamer but the black one for bp as it seems to have a longer life expectancy, but Both will far outlast the Miken's, dont know about the Reebok's. Have also hit with the twlight and after the first hundred swings, it was up there with the best of them, although had a large paint chip come off it after 50 swings,,,combats problems seems to be end caps, which they have fixed to some extent, and paint jobs,,, just my opinion

I've had my combat 2pc for a couple of weeks and its hitting as good, if not better, as my white combat did,it took about 150 swings to open up but now the ball jumps off this bat with damm good distance. after my experience with the black mikens durability I ll stay with combat,

Discussion: Softballs

I was on one of the teams that played aginst the Japanese teams using that ball. you had to use a smooth swing and hit the center of the ball or else all you heard was a thuuud and the ball would go straight up or hit 5 feet in front of the plate and bounce 30 ft in the air and come down in front of the pitcher. Most were using senior bats and any attempt to power the ball usually made you look silly. In the outfield you had to back up for a pop up if you saw you couldnt get to it,,, play the bounce, It was fun but wouldnt want to play if too often....
