Discussion: Palm Springs Tourney

we're playing in the palm springs tourney at the end of the month and I acknowledge and understand that A.S.A. bats are required, no problem however, I ve also heard that they are useing 40 /225 softballs and that last tourney not even the major + teams were getting them to the warning track. My question is , if this is so, what do they have aginst using a good ball??? just a simple question,,,, ,

first you need to buy an association, then find a AAA team, take 6-7 major and major plus players and put on this team, then play in your tournement, tell the tournement director to let your team be elgible to play AAA aginst ligetment AAA teams, and win a ring... sound fimalar Mr Ruth.

Discussion: becoming a dinker

well after years at the gym, working out and lots of batting practice, i finally decided that beings softball an't about being able to hit the ball hard and far, it s about making money, selling bats, keeping the balls in the park and keeping good balls and bats out of the game,,, so no more working out and batting practice, i m just going to sit on the couch , drink beer, get fat and dink the damm ball over the pitcher,,,,, mabye first base if they play in for me. heck, i might not live as long but then they dont have to worry about me loosing a good ball over the fence and costing them $5.00

Discussion: Overlap Grip

i have been using the overlap grip for 2 years now,, i get more distance and it has helped me with my follow though as i release the bat with my right hand just after the bat makes contact with the ball. it has added a good 10-15 ft to my long drives and the bat seems to get thought the strike zone alot faster, althought i have been know to hit the ball as high as far if i miss it

Discussion: ASA new BAN bat list for 2005

rumor has it that A.S.A.'s contacting all the gyms that might have seniors working out and declaring that any senior that works out more than once a week has to use a wood bat .if the player can curl more than 16 oz, they become a majors player and any hit out of the infied is an out unless it is on the 3rd bounce. this is for our protection as we cannot make decisions regarding softball bats for our own safty due to our deteriorative brain cells.

so no mikens in vegas next month, great, i just trades a new F-2 for a U-2, just another example of how the people that run senior softball don t give a ,,, cant use the word on here.. about the players on the field....i m aboutready to give up the game i have played for 4o years because the people that run it cant get their..... there's that word again...together and make the game for the players, not the bat companys, ball makers or umpire ass.s wouldn't car makes love it if there were laws that you could only drive a chevy on the even days af the week and fords on the odd,, daaah, remind you of ASA and Ussa. and yes i have bought my first set of golf clubs in 30 years,,, now i just need to learn how to hit the damm ball

Discussion: $$$$

i just got done discussing the current bat and ball situation with some friends and what a mess. the team played in St. Geaoge over the weekend and the whole team only had a couple of bats they could all useeven thought they had several hundred $$ in their bags,,, now the same is happening in Des Moines, I 'm starting to question as to why i play this game, work out and practice just so i can go hit a crappy softball with a bat that is from Walmart, sorry Walmart,,,They say safty is a reason but most good hitters will go right up the midle if they know they can t get any distance on the ball, Daaah,,, would you drather pitch to a guy trying to go deep with a good bat and ball or a good hitter coming up the midle cause they know they can t hit the crappy ball out past the co-ed line.. golf is starting to look like more fun every day and if 1,000 guys switch to gol, thats $300,000 less bats,,,, just my feelings

Discussion: "Home runs =outs"

i enjoy playing ball regardless of what division but feel that regardless of your age, if you can hit it over the fence,,, your shouldn t be penalized. when playing in reno i was told that if players who could hit the ball out shouldn t be playing in AA teams however,,,, how many teams above AA in the 60s was from my state. 0, how many teams are there in the 60 s above AA, not too many in arizona and i can t afford to go to california just so i can swing hard at a ball. i don't hit that many out but now if i accidently connect,,, YOUR OUT.

Discussion: Approaches to weight training

these are all good training tips. i do a pyramiding workout but do my heavy lifts first when my muscles are not fatigued. i do 3 days a week at the gym and try to hit at least 2 days a week.. i work my push muscles mon, legs wends and pull muscles on thurs or fri., depending on if i m playing that weekend. try to keep my weight around 205 with time on the tread mill doing interval training, run the sraightaways and walk the curves, on the treadmill. for 2-3 miles. this seems to work for me
