I like to workout year around. A great workout for the summer to keep up your strenght and gain muscle endurance. You will do upper body one day, day off (Cardio day), lower body, day off (cardio), Upper body, then 2 days off. Start cycle the next week with lowerbody and follow same every other day weightlifting. On upper body day (for example) you would perform 4 sets of 12 reps using the same weight for all 4 sets with a 30 second down time between sets. 30 seconds wait is the key. Once you can perform all the reps for 4 sets, you up the weight. Do entire upper body in the same fashion. it should take approx 45 min to complete. Sounds easy but it is a humbling workout. I am a personal trainer, so at 57 yo, you have to be creative to train around nagging injuries. Also, Do core work with twisting motion strengthens the bat swing. This program has served me and my clients well, so give it a shot and good luck.

Discussion: Stop the 3 day tournaments

Fellow senior players, I'm I the only one that finds the 3 day tournaments a waste of time and money? Playing 2 games on Friday is a joke. The added expense of an extra hotel night (and meals)along with taking a day off from work. The Glen Burnie Tournament went to a 2 day format due to complaints from teams. Hopefully, more tournaments will due the same.

MM, My teams has 12 Combats we use. 3 Yellows & 9 Blue. The hottest and oldest is the yellow, but the blue are heating up. Both excellent bats. Joe

Discussion: Moving on up

I feel your pain HAM 24 Jan 9 Post: I play for Renda Roads 50 AAA. We finished 2nd in Phoenix. We played in 4 SSUSA 2011 Tournaments. Our best finish in any of the tournaments was 2nd. We didn't win one single SSUSA Tournament and we were moved up to 50 Majors. Half of our team is 55 and teams that beat us in the 4 tournaments are still at AAA. Go Figure. Thanks
