WE HAVE A 65 MIN TIME LIMIT FINISH THE INNING AND PLAY ONE MORE THAT IS OPEN .. SO THE FLIP RULE IS ONLY USED WHEN THE TIME HAS RUN OUT IN THE NEXT INNING .. AND THAT INNING IS OPEN INNING NO MATTER WHAT INNING IT IS OR THE SEVENTH ..AND REMAINING INNINGS IF IT GOES 8 9 10 11 INNINGS .. IS HAS HELPED KEEP THE GAMES ON TRACK WITH GAMES AT 1 HR TIME SLOTS .. NEVER USED IT IN ANY TOURNEYS AROUND HERE BUT THE TALK OF USING IT AT THE PEACH STATE TO KEEP THINGS IN LINE DURING THE DAY .. | July 3, 2008 UMP IN GA | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Peach State Tournament in Atlanta, Georgia sorry if I misunder stood ... they dont use the ASA ball for USSSA or ISA they use the corect balls for each , there just Dudly balls USSSA is the elite and ISA is the 44 / 375 ... i know they used a ton of balls that weekend so you may see a change in how the balls will be done next year .... as in my post earlier .... if you have any suggestion let Brooks know ... | July 3, 2008 UMP IN GA | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Peach State Tournament in Atlanta, Georgia Bruce in reply to why we used the dudly thunder this weekend is that Cobb County has a contract with dudly to supply all balls to the County for all tourneys that we supply balls for .... this goes for the USSSA and ISA tourneys that are played there during the year as well .... one way to be able to hit the trump as you want is to change the tourney to bring your own balls hit what YOU bring and YOU got get your homeruns .... we both know how well that will work ..... I asked one team to go get some home runs that they had hit and got this look of like I had just killed there first born .... maybe do as they do at Nat. give yall a dozen balls at the start of the tourney and as long as you use a 44 375 ball you bring the umpire 3 balls at the start of your bat .... that seemed to work well there .... and you run for your own homers .... just thinking out load there Jesse |
| July 1, 2008 UMP IN GA | Topic: Tournaments Discussion: Peach State Tournament in Atlanta, Georgia Had a great time umpiring that weekend. I was on field 5 most of the time had my share of friendly hecklers right behind me, but all and all I had a great time. Lots of close games and watched a lot of friends from different teams coming together talking about family and catching up, it was almost like a family reunion. I hope everyone will come back next year and hope to see you in Dalton. And remember if it weren’t for all of you we would not have anything to umpire, so thank you for coming out. Jesse |
