This is an outstanding thread and I appreciate all who has contributed to it.
Here are a couple more Abraham Lincoln quotes:

No man has a good enough memory to make a successful liar.

Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.

Discussion: Senior events I like and why my own personal list

Lecak:
I fully agree with you on the SPA issue. The 2007 SPA Nationals had 13 teams in the 50 AAA last year and they stretched the event over four days with an entry fee of $650 plus sanction fees. Don’t know how many teams are in it yet for this year but schedule and cost is the same. They do give you a dozen balls for the tourney but they were duds after two innings of hitting – 3 new balls each game minimum if you wanted to stay competitive. Of course they would sell additional new balls to their customers! SPA and their TD are all about money!!! They do not have their customer’s best interest when making decisions. SPA also introduced a new rule this year that a team must play in two SPA qualifiers in order to go to the Nationals. We only played one this year because the second one was cancelled and other choices were too far away to travel for a weekend. We did get waved on this requirement this year but be reassured; they will hold your feet to the fire next year. This only makes our decision easier for next year as we will not play in any SPA tourneys unless they are convenient and will plan on going to the SSUSA World.

Does anyone know why the SPA National winners are not invited to the ToC? The ISA World winners are invited along with a Canadian sanctioned group.

Discussion: Flip-Flop Rule

Flip-Flop Rule: This is an appropriate name for this rule. Does anybody else have a problem with this? Teams try to get home team advantage (ideally to have last at bat) on a coin flip but could end up being the visitors in the 7th inning. Now this should only occur with the following stipulations per the rules:
• Applied at the discretion of Tournament Director and with approval of the managers of both teams – I have never been asked for approval for this action!
• Visiting team is ahead by 10 or more runs after 6th inning – I’ve seen this applied with as little as 5 runs lead!
If the home team pulls ahead in the FF inning, the visiting team now gets last bats. I can appreciate the thought behind this rule as to save time for games but SSUSA should really survey/talk to their customers when considering initiating these types of rules, it might open up the binders.

Discussion: AA Home Run Power

I might as well chime in here. What has failed to make it to this discussion is that Chicago Prime won the 2007 Midwest Championship as AA Rating. Unlike Indiana Classics who won the 50 AAA and got bumped up to Major, I guess CP only got bumped up ½ of a rating AA ½; get 5 bonus runs and no out penalty for hitting HRs. That is a sweet setup. To think they almost won this year’s AAA spot being entered as AA ranking. This reply is no way demeaning toward CP, they have a great club and it sounds like they tried to get appropriately rating. This is all SSUSA doing!
SSUSA – is the light coming on or are you still throwing the dart in the dark?
And to think, this sanctioning group is much better than the another one, not to mention any names but the initials are SPA!
