If it were this simple:

- Pitcher has the option to wear protective equipment
- Every ball hit out after maximum is a single
- if you decide to hit the midlle, they'll hit the middle too

The pitcher should "want" to play defense too. If he/she chooses against the "requirement" to play defense then you move to another position.
No, I'm not a pitcher. That is a talent I've not tried to acquire to date. Maybe someday...

A couple of drinks after the game/tournament is one thing. Maybe a drink if there's couple hour delay/wait between games. To arrive intoxicated before a game? What are we, 21 again? To think someone 50 or older lacks self control, respect for his team, his teamates, or his sponsor that he/she arrives intoxicated is just plain stupid.

Dave, Armiho 211,
Thanks for the info and advise to check out the tourney next weekend. I'm may be in California that weekend. If not, I will be at the parks.

I'm curious. Have any of your teams played against the younger guys in their leagues/tournaments (USSSA "E", "D")? I've played against it in a couple world qualifying tournments as well as the USSSA "E" worlds. Honestly, guys our age (50) are every bit as good as they are, often times much, much better.

I'm a recent transfer from Ann Arbor, MI to Phoenix, AZ. Would someone help me out by explaining the 50+ skill levels (AA, AAA, Major, Major-Plus)? I played class E @ 2nd base the last few years, our team came in 18th @ the USSSA worlds in Orlando, 2007. I am above average for the "E" level and would be a good "D" player. I won't turn 50 until next month and haven't totally given up on playing with the younger guys as I'm very competitive...just curious as to how competitive the levels are.
Thanks, Brit
