Discussion: CELEBRATING MEMORIAL DAY

have a great time today today in celebrating this special day. time to watch parades, bbq at the park and back yards gather with friends and family.
BUT take a few moments to honor the men and women who died in war to preserve our freedom to be able to
do and enjoy our liberties.

we attend a memorial day service every year at the local park where the names of the fallen are read to honor their service and final sacrifice to keep this country free.

the shame is that the attendence is getting smaller every year, very few kids are in attendance, and most of the adults are older people.

have a great day !

Double 10 : yep ! understand that terry p. suffered limited damage to his home during this last tornado . maybe it's time to consider moving, if there is such a place one might consider moving to that might be safe from nature's fury.

at our age, a lot us are easily distracted , BUT it should not be a problem. the batter is supposed to be focusing on the pitch, and a catcher making noise is not a big deal. if the catcher is screaming, that could be a diff story, the ump should get it stopped. my .03 c .

Discussion: IT IS A GOOD DAY

us navy- destroyer sailor,(volunteered) 1960-1964 . operated off the taiwan straits off the chinese coast. made it also to hong kong, subic bay, japan, south korea, formosa, and some other choice vacations spots, all free of charge of course.
after our tour was over in that area we were returning to long beach,ca. when we were diverted to the suez canal to proceed to cuba where the confrontation with russia was heating up. a few days later we were diverted back to long beach, apparently, NIKITA KRUSCHEV blinked and pulled the missiles from cuba.

to this day , not too many people realize how close we came to world war 3. if you were too young and did not realize what transpired in the cuban missile crises. then you need to see a movie named " THE MISSILES OF OCTOBER" with william devane as president john f kennedy. kinda long , but it will keep you glued, there was so much behind the scenes actions that occurred with spies, ambassadors into trying to stop the actual confrontation. this movie is not fictional, pretty close to actuallity.

that dont play tournament ball.

Discussion: loosing toenails

had the same problem a couple of times, i decided to trim my toenails before tournaments and it stopped my problem. guess the running caused my toenails to be jammed into the front of the shoes. try that next time, or try a small piece of foam jammed into the front of the shoes to cushion the jamming. good luck, my .02c.

Discussion: Miken SPU2P Ultra II USA 2012

the one i had was a dud, out of the wrapper, i couldnt get it to hit over 100 ft during the first 50 hits. i got rid of it. even the newer black ultra 2 appear to be the same, duds. maybe it was a bad batch, i gave up on mikens, if i buy another, i will buy an older model and use for tournaments only. the quality is just not there anymore, strictly my opinion. my .02c

very simple, dont like the price, dont buy it. if you really want the bat, try to work out a deal with the man. if he really needs the money, he may drop the price. my .02 c .

Discussion: Ratings

SSUSA- in 2011, the wilcatters 70's played in the phoenix championships in october 2011 as a MAJOR TEAM. we went 6-1 , 5 of the wins were by 1 to 3 runs . we were bumped up to MAJOR PLUS immediately. we went to the LAS VEGAS WINTER NATLS the following month ( nov ) as a MAJOR PLUS TEAM. we were the only MAJOR PLUS team there. there were 5 MAJOR teams and we had to give 5 runs to the major teams. i think we won one game. SSUSA- IF YOUR EXPLANATION TO #19 ABOVE IS CORRECT, THEN WHAT HAPPENED IN OUR CASE???? not that it makes any differenece at this point, just needed to see your response to our situation ??

taits: in my case, no email was recd, the " dud " bat just showed up via ups. i am beginning to wonder that maybe at almost 71 yrs old, i may be the dud ! but, no more mikens for me. i got a new combat ambush, and also an almost new yellow mike macenko senior gear , that i may start using.

TO MIKEN : i recd my " dud " bat today : thank you for checking the bat, which you deemed to be perfectly fine. i am pleased to informed you that effective today I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER MIKEN BAT OF ANY KIND FROM YOU OR ANY MIKEN DEALER. i understand that word of mouth DOES WORK, and will inform other senior players in my league of my dud bat problem and your response. i will continue to use it as a batting practice bat only and see if it ever heats up. i have ordered a COMBAT AMBUSH and will make it my primery bat. ps: i am glad that some of the other players were taken care of.

i dont understand MIKEN'S lack of caring on this or any problem that comes up with their products. MIKEN ultra 2's have been the weapon of choice for most of the seniors for years . their lack of concern or backing of their products have allowed other bat companies to take their fair share of the senior business. the other bat companies offer pretty good products also. if the quality of miken bats continue to suffer and the company doesnt care to take care of us, then i for one am done with their bats. i am also waiting for MIKEN to determine the fate of my "dead bat!" if they dont care for our business and start taking care of us then WE NEED TO SERIOUSLY CONSIDER BOYCOTTING MIKEN PRODUCTS, AFTER ALL THEY NEED US MORE THAN WE NEED THEM. bruceAZ- this is not good news, i just send a 27 oz black ultra 2 for the same reason. i was told that they would test the compression, and also test it by hitting it a few times for their in house batter's opinion. will see what happens. i ordered a COMBAT AMBUSH from alan, just in case miken shoots me down. if miken turns me down also, i will also boycott miken and tell my senior league about their decision. save your bat and copy of your email, and in the future if corky is at one of your tournaments, approach him for help. shot in the dark but maybe he can help. he normally has a compression tester with him.
