| Dec. 31, 2025 Born to run | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: TKR Revision Rehab Tor my ACL playing soccer in ‘99 and endured many years of cortisone, Synvisc, and Stem Cell injections. The pain finally pushed me to TKR in 2023 - One in August and the other in October. What a Gift!!! Back to playing softball in 6 months, albeit gingerly at first and after one year back to full speed. 76 years young and back to being a courtesy runner for others on our team. Sorry that scenario did not work for your first procedure, but hope that round two gives you better results! Best of Luck Moving forward! |
| Sept. 3, 2025 Born to run | Topic: Bats Discussion: Wigpopper vs Mario Foster I have the Wigpopper and find it excellent! I easily have over 500 swings with no loss of Pop. The best part of Short Porch bats - I also swing the TaxMan in our rec league - was the rep. Jay Yoakum is the most knowledgable person I have met in 25 years of playing softball. He understand the technology and was able to match my swing and power (I am 75, 5’10’’ and 160) to the best Short Porch bats. Highly recommend him. |

| Feb. 28, 2024 Born to run | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: A friend of mine had both knees replaced and sent me this book to help when I had mine done. “Fast Track Recovery from a Total Knee Replacement.” The author is Michelle Stiles. I had total knee replacements done on both - one in August 2023 and the second in October 2023. I played in both the Bullhead City tournament and the TOC in January 2024. I echo the advice JAB gave that your post surgery workout should be more intense than the pre surgery workout. Best of Luck! You can do it!! |

I also had cervical spine fusion in 2023 and returned to playing in less time. Great doctors and physical therapists are the key. |

| July 1, 2011 Born to run | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: The knee.....still and again Hey Mel; My Doc suggests that I give it at least a few days after an injection - and I occasionally listen>:) I watch to see the reaction and judge it from there. There is some swelling whenever you get these, but in a lot of cases rapid relief. I had my first of three on Tuesday and played last night with no discomfort and no swelling today. I use a ton of ice - 20 minutes on and 20 off. If you don't mind the dorky look, try an ice pack stuffed into a velcro knee brace. It keeps the ice in place and allows me to be mobile. I talked to my Doc about the effectiveness of this class of drugs - no surprise that the reason the insurance companies will pay for them is that there is scientific data indicating that 70% of the patients get some benefit which saves expensive knee replacements. I am one of the happy users and wish you the best of luck. |
| June 28, 2011 Born to run | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: The knee.....still and again Hey Mel; I am a grateful for the injections - I have had my ACL replaced and then tore the miniscus on the same knee. I have had the injections six times and will get them again. My doc said it takes a few weeks for the benefit to completely take effect - I started on Synvisc and when that stopped being effective, switched to Euflexxa. Good Luck and keep swinging! |
| Oct. 27, 2008 Born to run | Topic: General and miscellaneous Discussion: SYNVISC KNEE INJECTIONS I am a Synvisc fan - I have had my ACL replaced and then tore the miniscus on the same knee. I have had the injections three times and will get them again. My doc said it takes a few weeks for the benefit to completely take effect - and one of the three times I had some slight swelling that took a few weeks to subside. Good Luck and keep swinging! |
