The League plays South as far as Eureka Ca and north to Eugene Oregon.

Good Luck

Discussion: HELP ON THE RULES (SSWC OR ANYONE ELSE)

Maybe this will help, but this is baseball.

Mark McGwire at bat, Ricky Henderson on second and Stan Javier on first. Mac hit a single to left, Rusty Greer fields the ball and fires to the catcher rodriquez to shoot down henderson Rodrigues bobbled the ball Henderson slid safely. as he sat there at home Henderson nudged the ball with his hand while it lay on the ground before Rod could get his hands on it , rod then grabbed the ball , threw to third to get Javier but failed. Home plate ump Ken Kaiser called Javier out because Henderson had interfered with the play by touching the ball. Since Henderson scored a legal run he could not be penalized The ump used rule 9.01 which gives umps the authority to rule on any point not covered in the rule book. A legally scored run cannot be taken away from the scoring team. Your interference occured after a legal run scored.

hope this helps.... again this is baseball.

Discussion: Bashbro1’s Personal Evaluation of the NEW Miken Ultra II Advance bat

Art
Appreciate your evaluation of the New Ultra. I have one coming soon. I know you evaluation is ''intuitive and not scientific'' as you stated. But let me ask this. With the average weather in your area at 46 degrees for the month of Jan., in your opinion, would the bat have preformed better at, let say 60 degrees or 70 degrees.

Would viabration have been less of an issue in warmer weather?

Once again thanks for the imput.
How about another evaluation in late spring early summer.
Could be interesting.

Discussion: OK ump, what's the call? Where can a batter throw the bat?

1] Batter hits one of those spinning pop ups between the pitcher and catcher, neither can make the catch. They decide to let it roll into foul territory. While rolling foul it hits the bat that the batter has thrown in front of the plate and the ball stops in fair territory?
Batter interference? Or fair ball?

2] Same situation, only this time instead of hitting the ground first , the spinning pop up as it comes down hits the bat first and remains in fair territory.
Whats the call?

3] Man on third no outs, batter hits a fly ball to the outfield which is caught, guy on third tags , heads for home , outfielder makes a great throw to the plate which would easily beat the runner, but the throw hits the bat that the batter runner has thrown in front of the plate and bounces away from the catcher, and the man from third crosses the scoring line.
Interference? does the run score? Is the batter runner safe or out?

Playing ASA rules.
A player using a unapproved bat gets a hit. Is the batter out , only after the other team ''appeals'' the bat. Or can the ump call the player out without an ''appeal'' once he sees the bat was illegal?
Bottom line.....is the illegal bat rule an ''appeal'' play?

Discussion: Ultra II, Mayhem 120 What's the Didderence?

Now this is not a ''which is better?'' discussion. This is are these the same bats!!
I have two U-IIs , one about 5 years old, one 2 months old. I also have a Mahem 120. They all share the same Patent Pending number.
Question: Can they share the same patent number and be different , other than color and graphics? Are these the same bats, with a different look?

SSWC Toury Rules

Tie game, bottom half of the last inning, two outs. The slowest man steps in the box, and doubles. Time is called and the manager decides to put in his fasest courtsy runner, forgetting the fact that he would be the third batter. The opposing manager realizes the fact and intentionally walks the next two batters, bringing to the plate the man on third.
Questions.....
Can the manager now pinch hit for the runner on third and still leave him in the game?

Can the manager now take the runner on third out of the game, and put in a sub runner, and pinch hitter?

Or what?

A player using a banned bat gets a hit bringing in a run. The ump doesn't pick up the fact that the bat is banned. The next batter gets a hit. The catcher now tells the ump a banned bat was used by the hitter before. What's the call? Is the use of a banned bat an appeal call? Or can the ump , if he realizes the batter is using a banned bat , make a call while the batter is in the box? If so what's the call?
If it is an appeal call, when is the appeal made , any time during the inning or before the next batter hits?

Discussion: 2005 Senior Slow pitch rulebook

Many senior leagues change softball rules to fit their own players wishes. Example: In the Vancouver Wa. senior league , there is no sliding , and have only force playes at all bases . I suggest you contact the league commish and ask what association rules they are using and what , if any , changes have been made to those rules. Vancouver will let their players use about any softball bat made, no expections, whereas some associations will not allow some bats which they have banned. Check with your league they will have your answers.

Discussion: SSWC balls

Let the players decide. Seems when a better ball or bat hits the streets , it's banned by an association without consulting the people it affects most , the players. Deciding policy and defending that decision can be difficult at best. However if that same policy were established by the member teams and their players it becomes their choice and no defense is necessary.
Playing with a 44 core 375 psi ball is fine for some. But in my opinion , if the decision were left to the membership of the SSWC, the preference would be 44-525 or a 47 -525.
Guess my point here is , let the players have some say in the matter , when it comes to what bats and balls we use.
If the SSWC can justify the Ultra II , why not a 47 core ball.

Regarding the largest league in the country. I believe ''The Florida Half Century'' may qualify.
They have somewhere around 130 senior teams, 50's thouugh 75's. They play tournaments every month , year round. Well run orginazation. Miss playing with them since I left Fla.
