Discussion: Boombah Senior bat

Some might be concerned about the new Boombah senior bat because they cannot see the 1.20 bpf on the bat. First of all the stamp is there but somebody at Boombah made the stamp so small most of us cannot see without reading glasses but it is there and the bat is legal in senior softball. The other thing is the bat hits great and many feel it is same as all the other bats which I would agree. I like the feel and the pop and at that price how can you go wrong. Not plugging the bat but hats off to Boombah for the price point in these tough times.

On the Boombah senior bat the 1.20 bpf stamp can only be seen by a grandchild or micoscope. Don't ask me why they made it so small but it is there.

As a side note we found the Boombah bat takes about 200 or so hits to break in. Very stiff to start but opens up well. I guess that all the senior bats are close and it comes down to the feel. I like the Boombah feel better than the yellow Combat while other don't. Overall as I said before it hits well and holds up but that is my humble opinion.

I don't know to many details. What I do know is the bat is not ASA or USSSA legal. Also the bat is not made by CE or Combat. I know this because I was part of the testing before it was a Boombah bat. As I said before the bat has a great feel and for me and some others a little better performance than the Combats. The U2 is still the best but this comes very close. Mind has well over 1000 hits and is going strong.

The new Boombah senior bat has the 1.20 bpf stamp. I think it hits better than the Combat senior bats.

Discussion: Batting gloves, hype or type

When out to get a new pair of batting gloves and started to read the claims or shall I say BS. My question is this:
does it matter which type of glove you use ? Some us work gloves and others pay $48 for hi-tech - does the type of glove make or break a swing ?

Discussion: break in for senior bats ?

There was a bat out at the fields today that needed no break in at all. A player had a new one in the wrapper and took it out, stepped up to the plate and hit a monster shot with it. I did not hit it but most of the guys did and liked it. My point is it did not need a break in. Note that it is composite. So it is clear that some bats do not have break in period.

Discussion: break in for senior bats ?

Questions:
1. why does it take so long to break in a senior bat ?
2. seems it takes 300 hits to get it (yellow combat) to work well and then it is only good for a short time ?

got one with only 20 or so hits and it is total junk. 300 hits later and we hate it. I gave it to my son and he tossed it.

Discussion: How to play softball

Softball is a relatively simple game, but given all the rules clarifications lately,
I thought the following simple explanation regarding softball rules would be appropriate.

Softball is a game played by two teams, one out, the other in.
The one that's in, sends players out, one at a time, to see if they can get in before they get out.
If they get out before they get in, they come in, but it doesn't count.
If they get in before they get out, it does count.
When the ones out get three outs from the ones in before they get in without
being out, the team that's out comes in and the team in goes out to get those
going in out before they get in without being out.
When both teams have been in and out seven times, the game is over.
The team with the most in without being out before coming in, wins unless the ones in are
equal, in which case, the last ones in go out to get the ones in out before
they get in without being out.
The game will end when each team has the same number of ins out, but one team
has more in without being out before coming in.

To protect my face and save my career as a model (lol) I am thinking of wearing a face guard while pitching. What is the best one ?

Discussion: ASA bats for league - drop or not ?

One more question. We have a new rubber mat in the batters box when damp it hard to get a grip with cleats on. Running shoes slip even more. Any ideas here ?

Discussion: ASA bats for league - drop or not ?

We are going to vote next week about our bat rule. Right now we use ASA but many want to change and allow 65 + to use U2 and then everyone else has to use a 1.20 bat. Any thoughts on what works in your leagues.
We are in East Mesa, Az.

thank you
